Hi guys, my gear oil finished and I topped it. A problem Developed afterwards, my car can move back on revise 'R' but can't move on drive 'D' unless I fire it before it selects. Please what is the problem and how can it be corrected. Its an automatic car, Toyota corolla S

Apparently, the gear oil is in excess. Drain at least half a litre of the transmission oil and drive your car.

Wow, I think you're correct on this. The transmission oil is way above the gauge line. So I should meet the mechanic to drain it right?

If you are sure you used the right amount of oil and it is not too low, then you might need to scan the car.

You probably have a faulty transmission control.

There is a computer controlled solenoid attached to the transmission control that controls the oil pressure. If it is bad it wont function properly.

If your tranny oil is too low, it wont function properly.

If its not any of those 2, then you might need to ask whoever changed your oil some very serious questions.

Does it move sluggishly before taking off or it just takes off once you accelerate?

You can get a scanner on jijj for just 5k. The app will be installed on your android phone. Most big well package mechanic shops have these scanners
