Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti lived on the front-lines of the pro-democracy struggle against successive military dictatorships in Nigeria, and he was thrown into dungeons many times for his stand against despotic oppressions of the common man.   Beko was a man of understated heroism whose motivating compassion and perilous battles on behalf of the downtrodden will long be remembered and cherished by Nigerians and the international community alike.

Good night, Beko.   You fought a good fight.
