The Senate lacks the powers to determine how a political party conducts its primarius.

It also lacks the powers to dictate for political parties.

The only powers the National has is merely to take over the activities of the state Assembly in the event of crisis.

I urge the political parties to challenge this in court.

Only the political parties and its constitution will determine how to conduct its primarius.

Our National Assembly are the most dumbest in the world.

Thank you very much.

You are a very attentive Nigerian, it should be tried in Court.

The Senate that makes that law are made up of APC and PDP so what are you saying again.

Check the meaning of direct and indirect and see that direct is more democratic

Tried in court on what ground? Is the provision contradictory to any constitutional provision?

Can you back up the part in bold with a relevant section of the constitution?

I take God beg my distinguished Igbo politicians. This is a dark plot to extort resources from them in the bid to get presidential seat. Even if they want to bid for presidential seat, they all should choose one person and pull resources together to install such one.

Them fighting for their individual interest will amount in futility. They will promise you heaven and earth, eat your monies, then sideline you at the last minute using party forces, inec and the court all to pave way for tinubu

Methinks it's beyond the purview of the Senate to determine how political parties conduct its primaries, irrespective of the elective positions, involved, it should be left for parties to decide the best option to elect flag-bearers

Why would anyone with the party’s delegate at heart be scared of direct primary?

You are 1000% correct.
Even the Supreme Court CAN NOT compel political parties on the methodology theY adopt in choosing their candidates.

Pronouncements like this only affirm the fact that we have an idle senate and HOR.

That clause is a deliberate ploy to ensure that some of them scale through without any hitch.

Good news

There is still a snag: who ever in power can compel INEC indirectly to use manual if it conveys any advantages. And inec would still tell Nigerians that the same was the best under the circumstances. They are directly under Aso Rock. In my opinion, the best is a clear legislation which is either electronic or manual recognisable by law.

This is a welcome development. No more bribing of delegates to win primary election. You must be the popular choice of party members to emerge as the party's candidate.

Watch how every candidate will publish their own results of direct primaries claiming victory. We have seen it play out in APC

By the ratification for Political Parties to adopt direct primaries for their candidates.

What is the fate of Candidates in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election that is a consensus candidate?

Note the provision that it must be supervised by INEC. Though I am a supporter of parties being allowed to direct her affairs without any external interference, this law is in order

hmmm when you start hearing 1million votes in Borno, and 2million votes in Kano for candidates during primaries. We shall see how southern candidates will become president with just simple majority without any other conditions attached.

The court lack the power to question the law makers except were there is constitutional violation or due process is not followed. Courts are there ONLY to interprete the laws made by the NASS
