Osinbajo Vanguard, an NGO, has underscored the support of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to President Muhammadu Buhari, in the ongoing nation build process to be key consideration for his choice in sustaining the good works as president come 2023.

This is contained in a communique in Abuja issued by the National Coordinator of the group, YM Isah.

“Amidst appeals from cross section of the society on Osinbajo to seek the office of the president in 2023, it is pertinent to allow him concentrate on the job at hand in helping President Buhari deliver his laudable programmes and policies.

“Our call on the Vice President Osinbajo to contest 2023 presidency is the outcome of meeting by our organisation stakeholders from across the six-geopolitical zones of the country held in Abuja on Oct. 3, 2021.

“Our call is based on the spotted capability of the Vice president to build on the foundation being laid by President Buhari.

“Osinbajo has demonstrated capability in helping president Buhari achieve his set agenda, particularly in the social investment programmes and economy and made youths and, women a priority. “We strongly believe youths and women interests would be better served under his watch as a president come 2023.’

“What is at stake is the future of our children; we have nothing to do with power shift, but in leadership capability.”

According to the group, the meeting drew participants from various zones, ethnicities, and religions, to discuss on issues that border on the political and economic future of the country.

The group in the communique promised to hold activities to create relevant awareness, to achieve desired goals.

“We are taking the campaign to the grassroots, where every ethnic group in Nigeria will be involved; we will not be gathering ourselves in Abuja to just speak English.

‘We are taking our message to the grassroots and to bring feedback in the people’s language. We are going to encourage people to speak to us in their own dialect to canvase support for to contest for president.

“We are confident that at the appropriate time, Osinbajo will not fail to heed to the patriotic call of ordinary Nigerians,” the group said.

It recalled that various groups and individuals have been calling Osinbajo to contest for the 2023 presidency, the vice president is yet to heed to grounds of focus on the job at hand.

It, however, mentioned that Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State had in the same vein described Osinbajo as a marketable presidential candidate to vie for the 2023 Presidential elections.

2023 is still a bit faraway for certain actions to be taken now, the VP himself has stated that he is focused on his job and doesn't need distractions. Its good to know an official statement was issued warning people to stay away from controversies.
