Hundreds of women in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday blocked Gusau-Kaduna Road to protest against persistent attacks by bandits despite security measures by the state government.

Gusau-Kaduna road is the busiest road as it links the state to several other states both in the North and the South.

The women, who were with their children and belongings, sat on the road and prevented movement for motorists and passersby on the road.

The protesters caused gridlock and hundreds of motorists were left stranded as they could neither move forward nor backward.

One of the women, who gave her name as Sadiya, told The PUNCH that they decided to protest because bandits were always attacking and raping them and there had been no action taken to protect them.

Sadiya said, “We blocked the road in order to draw the attention of both the government and the security agents to come to our rescue.”

Another woman, Talatu Sani, said sheleft her village of Cediya because the bandits used to go to the village to rape women and steal their food and animals.

“I join the protest because the authorities are not doing anything to protect us from this hopeless situation.”

A commercial driver, Musa Shehu saidhe was coming from Funtua to Gusau, lamenting that he spent more than four hours before the road was cleared by the security agents.

Efforts were made to talk to the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu, without success as he didn’t pick up his calls. He had yet to reply to a text message sent to him on the protest.

Similarly, the state Commissioner of Security, DIG Mamman Tsafe (retd.), an indigine of Tsafe LGA, did not make any comment when contacted on the telephone by The PUNCH.

All because Buhari turned a blind eye to crimes committed by his terrorist Fulani brothers. They have turned Nigeria to a killing field with the president doing nothing to stop it

This is a sign of a failed government and I really empathize with the women and other helpless residents that are affected by ineptitude of the government at all level starting from the useless Commander-in-chief to the clueless Chief security officer of the State

Women have alwasy been brave..whenever there is protests. Women turn out more than men

I see things not improving until there is state police, child spacing and massive education for northerners

I see northerners resisting birth control because they think allah will train a child
I dont see these problems ending any time soon

This i have seen

..but buhari is more concerned of being called an idiot by MNK,and unfortunately for the protesters, that's the government priority right now,and no issue of national concern will be discussed until MNK is treated inthe language he understands by the bloodsucking government.
and to some online miscreants ,MNK is their problem,as well.
MNK is the reason for the ruthless killing, kidnapping and bloodshed in North.

Good one ,by the way, keep dragging this useless government by the balls, but the painful part of it is that the government of today got no value for human life.

Bandits are business men, seeking for their daily bread.... El Rufai, 2021

Bandits don't want to separate Nigeria, they are not a problem at all.... Lai, 2021..

So there's no cause for alarm.

Buhari no send una

God Bless MNK
