The aftermath of the EndSARS protest in Abia State resulted in the burning of public offices and destruction of government owned properties in Aba on 21 October 2020.

Days after the destruction and burning of the facilities, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu visited the affected areas and promised to help rebuild the structures.

Some of the affected structures include Aba South Local Government Secretariat, Aba High Court, Abia State Fire Service, Aba, Abia State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Aba Zonal Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Aba South Primary Health Care Department, etc.

Sadly, one year on, most of the affected government owned buildings in the city remain the same, if not in worst conditions.

This is how Aba Town Hall, in Aba South Local Government Area Council secretariat looked before the attack.

The above photos are the current state of Aba Town Hall, one year after the destruction and burning of parts of the building.

The situation at the facility is worse because most staff members of the Local Government Council no longer have offices where they can carry out their daily duties and responsibilities.

If one visited the council on a week day, one would find staff either loitering or standing at corners in the premises due to the inability of the management to provide offices and chairs for the workers.

I hate destructions...

This is what happens when the wicked rules.. I never witnessed this level of irritation and attendant irrationality in Nigeria before now. I only read stuffs like this from countries like Cuba,Columbia,Sudan and the likes..

Stop destroying social amenities. You can't eat your cake and have it.
