1stGenAmerican:This is serious... The only thing that i can say is Nigeria.. When tb joshua guest house collapsed and 100s of foreigners died, till date nobody has being held responsible for that heinous crime. The guest house was initially a 6storey structure, but cause of greed and weak institutions, synagogue extended it further to either 10 or so. Imagine lagos state property and development agency can't verify records of intending investors to know their track records and so forth... Shame on Nigeria, shame on Lagos state govt. 2 Likes |

Which one is the face behind the incident? The Nigerian police with its lack of proper investigation is trying to divert blame to an otherwise innocent person. Yes, he drew up the plan but for all we know he likely employed shoddy engineers whose penny pinching ways lead to the catastrophe. The propaganda is working as educated illiterates are already calling for his head. As he was in the building at the time, this is the best cop out since the dead can’t tell tales. |

OfficialGaGa: Nigerian government and civil servants are busy directing operations of terrorists where are they gona get time for building regulation . This is the result of ongoing colonial rule of Nigeria by racists who hate us to the core How many times have you heard of building collapse in Nigeria Meanwhile EFCC and terrorists and kidnappers are chasing everybody The result of Oyinbo rule of nigeria for over 200 years till this minute Just dont enter or stay ear multistory building in Nigeria unless its building frequented by oyinbo, cause only they are allowed safety, we get death, we do all the dieing for them. The entire black Africa is under siege by terrorists groups working for europe, where are they gona get time for building safety regulations. Dont go near any large structures in black africa , unless oyinbo plenty there 2 Likes |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJl-Yu33nZ4 But the impression anyone could reasonably take from this video and profile articles posted so far on this guy is one of competence and good track record, what could have gone wrong ? This is like a tragedy on all sides, even sympathy for him too. |

I have went with a colleague that work as safety officer to check some sites in dubai... the kind of quality materials and deepness of the foundation I doubt even heavy earthquake can push it down... foundation can go as deep as 50ft or more just to get earth crush, the blocks if you throw is down from buj Khalifa it won't break... they don't use sand to mold block, very light but strong like rock, but here in Nigeria, one ediot will wake up and start calling himself engineer 1 Like |

Iamicekid: First, can you stop talking about what you do not have full grasp of? How do you not need sharp sand in the construction of a building?. Concrete which is the most popular building material is a mixture of sand(fine aggregate), granite(coarse aggregate), cement(a binding agent) and water all mixed in the right proportion depending on the purpose it is being used for. Second, you claim not to see granite on site?. How do you think a 21 floors building will stand without the use of granite?. Pictures of that site we have seen so far have only shown the entrance and the collapsed rubbles. Do you expect that the granite used on site is stacked at the entrance? Third, there is a building failure already and there are insinuations as to the cause of the collapse. From experience, I do not think that lack of granite will be the cause of this collapse. Even if they tried saving cost, granite is not the most expensive item that would warrant to save cost on. Usually, reinforcements is the culprit. In the interim, information flying around is that the building was designed for 15 floors but they added additional 6 floors which interprets to excess load that what the foundation can carry. 2 Likes |
