This year's award will hold on November 20, 2021 at the Apollo Theatre, and it will be hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell.

On November 2, 2021, Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Wizkid, bagged five nominations at the 2021 Soul Train Awards. His partner-in-Essence, Tems also bagged four.

Wizkid's and Tems' nominations come in the Song of The Year, Video of The Year, The Ashford and Simpson songwriter’s award and Best Collaboration for the groundbreaking single, 'Essence.'

Wizkid then bags a nomination for Album of The Year, for Made In Lagos, while Tems bags another nomination for Best New Artist.

It's been a stellar year for both artists. Wizkid has coasted with his fourth album while Tems has also featured on a Drake record.

What is Soul Train Awards?

Wikipedia notes that, The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show which previously aired in national broadcast syndication, and honors the best in African-American culture music and entertainment.

It is produced by the makers of Soul Train, the program from which it takes its name, and features musical performances by various contemporary R&B and soul music recording artists interspersed throughout the ceremonies. The special traditionally used to air in either February, March or April, but now airs the last weekend of November.

This year's award will hold on November 20, 2021 at the Apollo Theatre, and it will be hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell.

Made In Lagos remains a masterpiece and a great album.
We are privileged to live in an era where Big Wiz has re-defined AfroBeats and made music seems so simple.

The album came at a time the world was groping from the effects of the dreaded CoronaVirus. It sent down a beamer of hope and pure assurances that we would rise above the pandemic.

The feeling of pure and sonorous live instrumentals is second to none. The tracklist is superb and every song stood out for me.


No wonder the MIL tour has been a massive success. From sold out venues to massive receptions at home and abroad.


Big Wiz was right when he said himself and Temsbaby made Magic.

Essence has become the song of the summer and it has already gone platinum under one year of its release in USA.

Essence is a song that you cannot get tired listening to. The combo between Tems and Big Wiz was made in heaven and the instrumentals was fire.

This is just the beginning.
More awards and accolades coming.

Big Wiz to the world. You have earned it. You deserve it.
