Why do job applicants tell their recruiters that they are able to work under pressure? Is it suppose to be a criterion as a job applicant or it's out of sheer desperation?

It's nothing short of desperation and wanting to stand out in a sea of applicants with similar credentials. You can't blame them.

When the pressure now comes when employed as staffs, you see them complaining of maltreatment by employers.

I don't know about others but I try as much as possible not to say "I can work under pressure" during interviews. The highest I can say is "I can work with little or no supervision"

They are just trying to remind recruiter that since Nigeria has dealt with them wella, they are ready to face any pressure the miserable workplace they've applied to can offer.

And they are right. Most workplaces are miserable places of work but they can survive since Nigeria is largely a miserable country to live.

Nigeria has equipped are citizens to survive the harshest of conditions by treating citizens worse than neighbouring countries.

That's one common mistake applicants make on their resume, it's so wrong.

It's just a Nigerian thing, Nigerian recruiters are looking for perfection, the kind of perfection that doesn't exist.

The ideal candidate in a Nigerian Boss mind is someone who is not more that 22 years and has 10 years post NYSC experience and can multitask and deliver swiftly under unconducive environment and is ready to take peanut at the end of the month after enduring many insult and shout.

It's a quality you must have as an individual.

The ability to multitask and deliver under pressure makes you stand out among your peers unlike those guys in red part of Manchester

Who brings 'working under pressure' up in the first place? Only mumu applicant would do when he/she is not asked.

These days, telling a potential employer you can work under pressure doesn't mean anything.
Just living in Naija is enough pressure.

That was how one asked me what I would do if a client slaps me. The way I laughed first, they answered the question themselves.

Nonsense and pressure.
Re: Why Do Job Applicants Tell Their Recruiters This? by LollySeaSide: 1:36pm On Nov 08, 2021
Whether or not you include it in your resumé or say it during interview, employers will still put you under pressure.
Just brace up for full pressure as soon as you take up a job in a private firm.
If it becomes too much for you to handle, just quit!
