I have stopped having soft drinks for over 4 years now. Soft drinks are more dangerous to the heath than fatty food

Good evening Nairalanders. So, I've been a chronic Pepsi addict over the years. I usually take two plastic bottles daily. One during breakfast, and one at night.

I usually take it alongside rice, noodles, any food eaten with spoon. I'm 27. Three years from now, I'll be 30, meaning I'm on my way to middle age.

I've decided to stop drinking it. It's hard but I will try. I now take my food with very chilled water.

I need tips on how to win the fight over my addiction to Pepsi. Today is Day 1. I'm writing this post by 11:30pm, and I've not taken any Pepsi today.
Not possible at once start by reducing it to a bottle per day and from there you can finally end it but still not completely because you can still be taking it once in two months thats not bad. I takes a bottle of coca cola once in three months and I don't take sugar at all, I use honey instead. I don't take drugs, I use bitter leave juice instead. I rest alot. I'm 32 and I'm doing so good

I was once addicted to soft drink some years back but I am able to break by substituting it with drinking of tea especially Lipton until I finally stop

I guess you love taking sweet stuff. My relatives died of diabetes. Based on sweet things and alcohol. I think you need something else to replace the Pepsi. You cannot stop the addiction immediately. It's a gradual process. Try substituting with Soy milk. Because I don't want a situation were the doctor would have to tell you to stop because that would be the beginning of your problems. I take water. I no want wahala for future. grin

Good. smiley

MasterRahl just keep a calendar and mark the dates. I have stopped 365+151 days and counting now... Not easy but worth the fight.

Same goes for any addiction. You fight, fall, pick up yourself and fight again. Sooner or later it becomes nothing to you. Soda is no-no for me.

Also try to let people know that you are fighting an addiction. It helps too. My uncle knows I'm hooked to soda because we play ball together so it's almost the same for us (two bottles of soda everyday). Whenever I visit him, I remind him that I've stopped. He got used to it and stopped offering me. Previously he used to mock me but I wasn't bothered.

The change starts with you. And please Pepsi doesn't cause diabetes. Don't mind ChiefSosa cheesy grin

They are both dangerous. I can assure you. I have been in and out of the hospital for like two weeks now. There are things people don't know. Sugar level, Cholesterol level are very important. And can lead to death. If he doesn't want to be a regular patient in the hospital, he should avoid the two. My friend died recently from Stroke. You know what that means.

I've been addicted to lots of things in the past and I broke off with them, and one evergreen advice I can give you is to start small, and progressively increase it as times goes by. Ok maybe it's not an addiction, but I used to have an unhealthy need to be right, to be seen, to correct someone, and such unacceptable behaviours.

But when I get the urge to do so, I'll just ask myself if this will matter in the next five weeks, five months or five years? Then I shut the fork up. So if you like, call me a terrorist, all kinds of names, I'll just ignore. And with time, I enjoy being invisible, operating on the background, being tick skinned, and not being in the spotlight.

It's same with learning a new skills. Last month, I ran a marathon, it was one of the hardest thing I've ever done, challenging and proving to myself that it's mind over body. But before I ran it, I've been training for months, and been running for years. I remember when I can't ran one km, but now? I can run non stop for hours. The point I'm trying to make it that time, and consistency rewards everything. To quit or start something, just start small, then grow, and let compound wealth do its magic.

Now I can run for hours without stopping unless I'm really thirsty or it's a bad weather. I've also developed a thick skin, as in eh, you see the way Buhari ignore all his haters and yabbers, that's me. Hate or curse me all you like, doesn't matter. But one thing is sure, I'll live a good life, and you'll know it. Success is the best revenge I guess? So yea. Maybe what I said is not a direct response of how to stop soda addiction, but can help you reach that goal. Graciaa.

You can make use of this product to reduce it sugar content (not only Pepsi but every other drink) by just placing the plastic drink or glass of drink on it for just 5 minutes.
You can drink more than 2 bottles without side effects

Try to remind yourself more of it's bad effects, eg becoming diabetic later on in life, than on it's 'sweetness'. It will help create that aversion which you need to end the habit.

Good luck.

This is exactly my elder sister's situation 2 years ago till she developed type 2 diabetes. Her near death experience cured me of my addiction to Pepsi. I've only taken 4 bottles this year. You are on the right path. Please don't stop, it might mean your life!

You haven't stated what you are doing wrong. 2 bottles a day nothing, calories wise et al.

We gather dey this table... I work and sweat alot during the day and you know how frustrating lagos sun can be, so I find myself walking and drinking Pepsi sometimes twice or thrice a day.

I spoke with a friend who is a health personal and he told me that so long as I am walking, the sugar is getting burnt out.... I did sugar test and my sugar level is perfect.

I still drink it Though I don't take beer

You will need to go to the hospital to see people with diabetes and its complications.
The best drink in the world is water. Our cells need water for survival. Then you can prepare smoothies also. They are also healthy. Then work on your diet. Avoid junk foods cos they go hand in hand with soft drinks. Those things kill a man's erection faster than a smelly pussy. angry
