One of the easiest ways to make money online is freelancing. As technology keeps evolving, we are going from the traditional job hunt and 9-5 office kind of jobs to a more flexible option, and this is where freelancing comes into play.

Just in case you don’t know, a freelancer is a person who earns money for every task completed. Freelancers are not regular employees of companies but they determine who they work for, the amount they charge and what time they want to work. In other words, freelancers are more like their own bosses taking and executing contracts. Another benefit of being a freelancer is that you can take as many projects as you wish provided you have the ability and time to finish them.

Sounds interesting right?

How To Get Started As A Freelancer
Starting out as a freelancer is not difficult. You can start from the comfort of your home, doing it full time or part time.

- First, you need a skill. Virtually any skill these days is in high demand, though some are much sought after than others. Common skills you can decide to consider include graphics design, copywriting, social media management, marketing, data entry, photography, programming, translation and the list goes on.
- Once you have decided on the skill you want to go with, the next thing is to niche down and find a target market. For instance, if you are into copywriting, who are the people that will most likely need your services? It could be ecommerce website owners, it could be bloggers who don’t have time to write, etc.
- If you have identified your target market, congratulations! The next step is to create an online portfolio. Some freelancers sell their services through different channels which includes their own websites, network websites, social media, forums etc. Creating an online portfolio is important if you want to become an authority in the niche you have chosen as a freelancer.
- You will need to determine how much you will charge for your skills. Whatever pricing strategy you want to use, make sure it is covering your overhead cost plus the time you need to complete the project.
- Once you have set all these in place, it’s time to start reaching out and finding clients to sell your services to.
