He publicly said on TV that he does not listen to engineers when he is building in Nigeria.

Why would the family fight any lawsuit when they are not the contractor or directly linked to the project?
The company is going to face lawsuits for sure, the company is a listed company and has other people as part of the company ownership so it is the owners (shareholder/partners) and the management of the company that will be in for a tough time.
His family will not even face prosecution because they have done nothing wrong.

He died a chicken's death, may he's soul rest in the chicken's shit.

Well he had a responsibility to ensure that his engineers and workers did the right thing

Plus he was warned. Recall that one of the companies involved pulled out of the job because they did not agree with the type of work being done there. Then the state tried to halt construction due to concerns and he used his connections to force a restart of work.

If we follow your argument to its logical conclusion , we would end up absolving our current leaders for the mess they make.

The buck stops at the man's table. It is his fault. Don't defend him. Leaders take responsibility.
