There are many varieties of beans and they are filled with essential nutrients needed by the body, they are also rich in fiber. Many people usually complain about passing gas after eating beans, a process which make some people to stop or reduce beans intake. Studies revealed that there are some factors that may cause it which will be discussed in this article.

1. The fiber in beans may cause gas.
Beans are very rich in water soluble fiber which is normally digested in the stomach but the excess fiber in beans may lead to passing of gas.

2. Studies revealed that the raffinose property in beans cannot be digested in the stomach when beans is eaten. This can lead to bloating and farting when it reaches the large intestine and some bacteria worked on it.

However, farting or passing of gas after eating beans can be prevented or reduced if you follow the following instructions.

1. Make sure that you soak beans for at least 6 hours before cooking, you may even soak overnight especially if you are not in a hurry to cook it. This process of soaking beans will make raffinose come out of the beans therefore preventing farting after eating it.

2. Cook your beans very well till it becomes very tender. You may make use of pressure pot to reduce the time that will be spent for cooking the beans.

3. Always drink enough water. It is proper to be hydrated so that the toxins of the body will be flushed out and also aid easy digestion of food.
