THREE STEPS TO RECEIVE GOD’S FORGIVENESS AND MERCY
David fell into sin like every human being, like king Saul, but his attitude towards sin is what made the difference, he did not receive God’s mercy because he never committed sin but because he had the right attitude to sins, 3 steps to receive God’s forgiveness and mercy:

1. David realized his sins as sins without excuse, he said “For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight” Psalm 51:3,4. Satan can give you 101 reasons to excuse your sins, maybe because everybody is doing, because we are all humans, or because it does not matter and so on. Until you realize your sins as sins and yourself as a sinner, you can never have God’s mercy.

2. David confessed his sins.
David said, “I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” Psalm 32:5.
You cannot commit sin in English language and confess it with speaking in tongues. You cannot sin against God and bribe God with praises and worship or sacrifices. If you want to receive forgiveness of God, if you care for God’s mercy, you must confess your sin, you must uncover your sin, you must speak up.

3. David forsook his sins.
This is the last and most important steps into God’s everlasting mercy and forgiveness. It is very good to realize your sin, it is very good to confess your sins, but it is the most important to forsake your sins after your confession, after your conversion into God’s kingdom. This is the step that seal God’s mercy.

Sacrifice of praise to God cannot cover your sins, in fact David himself said that any sacrifice in sin is useless to God.

"For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise......Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar." Psalm 51:16, 17, 19.

David received the mercies of God because he confessed and forsook his sins. Saul confessed his sin of wickedness at different times when he was pursuing David, but he did not stop pursuing David. But David confessed his sin of adultery and murder, and he never continued in the sins again. Have you read it anywhere in the Bible that David committed adultery after he had confessed to God? Never! If you hear any preacher that says David is the most sinful man in the Bible but he knew how to praise very well, such preacher is an agent of Satan.

Praise and worship does not cover sin as many preachers are saying today, thanksgiving and sacrificial giving cannot get you the mercies of God as many modern preachers are claiming today. What guarantee God's mercies are confession of sin and forsaking the sin, that is, to discontinue in the sin. Proverbs 28:13, "He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy."

You can praise God from morning till evening, that will not guarantee God’s mercy if you do not confess and forsake your sin. You can engage in thanksgiving and sacrificial giving, but if you are hiding your sins, covering up your iniquities, mercy of God is far from you. Forget about the sugarcoated words of modern gospel preachers, you will not want to gamble with your souls and get to know when it is too late.

God is ready to show mercy upon you today, God want to wipe away all your sins and give you a brand new life. God is ready to write your name in the Book of Life. God is ready to forgive all your sins no matter how terrible. Will you receive His mercy or reject it? Will you harden your heart again or be broken before God?
