Third party workers of Flour Mills of Nigeria staged protest at their office in Apapa, Lagos State to press home their demand for an increase in salary, a better Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Lunch during working hours, and a Christmas bonus.

The aggrieved protesters were seen carrying placards of different messages.

One of the placards reads; "Feeding the nation, but now we are feeding the staff #8000 basic salary."

Another says in Pidgin English: "NA THE SAME MARKET WE DEY GO", the english translation is we all go to the same market.

A management staff came using a megaphone to address the protesters but they did not give him a listening ears. They demanded that the Group Managing Director come out and address them.

FMN that just parted with N80 billion to buy 71% total issued ordinary shares of Honeywell Flour mills can do better in terms of welfare for its workers.

I think the problem with that company is that they are heavy in debt and seem to be working for their creditors by paying high finance cost.
This kind of news of protest over welfare can send a wrong signal to workers of Honeywell flour mills.

Third Party workers is same as contract staffs with stipulated terms and conditions of appointment. Unfortunately, most affected workers hardly glance through the document before appending signatures to accept and cement the job offer.

One of the worst life experience is to be a contract/third party staff undecided I doubt if there is anything Flour Mills can do as they are not their direct staff.

I wonder how a government plan to increase fuel money without increment in salary. That's what we get wen a secondary school holder is ruling a nation. Fuel in Nigeria determines the price of goods n services. Pls Buhari don't increase pls

"...increase in salary, a better Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Lunch during working hours, and a Christmas bonus."

This is not something workers in any establishment should be protesting or even demanding for.... It ought to be a given.

These things ought to be a law in any serious nation... What exactly is the usefulness of the Labor minister and his ministry for Pete's sake?!! What do senators do all year round in this country?!!

Where exactly?!!... These issues plague nearly every section of the Labor industry!

It is not normal the way we allow our workers to be treated... Even foreign companies do the same to our citizens who work for them. It makes no sense.

They are contract workers therefore they have no legal relationship with Flour Mills but their direct employer. undecided

I happen to know that most times these guys are shortchanged by their direct employers who receive large pay from the multinational but pay the staff mere pittance!
