Can You Open A Franchise Business And Work A Full Time Job, Too? by ankit1230: 12:25pm On Dec 04, 2021
A franchise is a kind of business and every business needs full-time commitment from the proprietor. But sometimes, we cannot leave the job we are holding due to various reasons, but still want to become a successful businessman. In any other type of business, this will not only be discouraged but usually won’t even be allowed.

That is where franchising is different and more popular than others, as this business area allows the flexibility of sometimes holding a full-time job as well as running a franchising unit.

You can always take up a franchise as a passive owner. By doing so, you just invest in the franchise, participate in training to understand the business and then hire people to execute the actual day-to-day operations of the establishment.

Two examples of such franchisors are “Too Hotties” and “Snap Fitness” where passive ownership is allowed. In both cases, as a passive owner you can run your franchise through remote surveillance or hire people to run your franchise.

There are many more companies that allow passive franchisor with an active manager like “Great Frame Up”, “Papa Romano’s”, and etc. Check out brandEXPANSION to get a complete list of such companies.

But there are things that you must consider before becoming a passive franchisee. When you are a passive owner, you have to keep somebody to run the establishment.

But, paying his/her salary is going to eat into your profit and that can cause problems in future. Another reason is that the business is yours; so naturally the amount of dedication and effort that you will give as an active franchisee will be more than any employee.

Hence, the best option is that during the initial starting period of the franchise, you devote the maximum time and endeavor and when the business gets established, you go back to your full-time job after hiring a manager.

Do keep regular check on your business, so that the quality does not slip away. This way, you can have a full-time job and also turn into a franchise owner at the same time!
