Just a few months ago,a Youth Corper serving in Bauchi once came to complain here on NL that he and his friend were almost lynched just because the driver of the taxi they were in suddenly jumped down and shouted that they were criminals. It took the police great effort to rescue them. On a thorough investigation of the case later, the taxi driver couldn't really make any case against them as he had nothing meaningful to say.He himself then faced being arrested and tried for attempted murder,etc. Then the angry mob/villagers later feigned that the taxi driver was mentally unsound and the case died there. Do you know how many innocent Nigerians have been killed through this jungle justice thing? A fair trial is deserved by all, guilty or innocent.

@miss de don, it is clear that u refuse to see reason. let me sth absolutely clear to u. I am not in support of any thief. I hate thieves. But I hate murderers as well. And the ppl who killed these men as if they are animals, are animals themselves. Don't be block headed. The story I sited abt witchcraft was for a reason. Some people just wait for the right opportunity to show their violent side....and angry nigerians who have been hurt like urself just jump and support them. It is not right. When u catch a thief, beat him up, take him to the station, and let the legal system do its job. Like I said b4 there is a reason we have court rooms. One of the ppl contributing to the comments have made mention of some youth corpers that were almost killed by such animals. U need evidence b4 u can call sb guilty. There is a reason for that. Some people here can afford to type loads of bullocks, my view about this sort of punishment will not change as long as innocent individuals are not killed.

Jungle justices will not work in a country where the citizens have faith in the judicial system and the police because they know that justices will be done when an armed robber or a murderer is arrested.

If you go out to terrorist, steal and kill your victims then you have signed your death certificate as well. Yes jungle justices is not the best way to go but in a system where crime keep going up, armed robbers rules, kidnapping becomes lucrative business, going to the bank is not safe, churches used to be the safest place before but not the same in Nigeria anymore as one could be blown up worshiping God.
