A former member of the House of Representatives in Ogun State, Hon. Oladidupo Adebutu, has said, “the security challenges facing Nigeria this time should not be used as an avenue to divide the nation along ethnic lines.”

Adebutu, however, urged the people to be security conscious, urging them not to indulge in activities that could wreak havoc, especially during this festive period.

In his Christmas message on Saturday, the businessman appealed to all Nigerians to embrace what he called the virtues of peaceful co-existence, asking them to refrain from fanning the embers of disunity.

According to him, Nigeria can only make the desired progress through living together peacefully as a nation at a steady pace.

“I urge you to continue in this spirit of love because it is only by living in peaceful and harmonious co-existence that we are truly celebrating the essence of Christmas,” he said.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain maintained that “there is no better way to celebrate this season than by showing love and being our brother’s keeper.”

He enjoined Nigerians to always engage in activities that could unite the nation, asking them to desist from any act that could cause disintegration.

He is a politician and hence a beneficiary of "One Nigeria". The political class are not clamoring for the country to remain as one because they love Nigeria so much. No. It is because Nigeria as currently structured is their cash cow and they will continue to suck Nigeria dry until there is nothing left. With the crop of leaders and political elite Nigeria currently has, that country will never make any headway. Nigerians will continue to japa until perhaps there will be no country to japa to again since immigration laws around the world continue to tighten and get stricter.

You talk like if Nigeria breaks up everybody will just go back to his region, sorry to burst your bubble, it doesn't work like that, there is an ECOWAS agreement for citizens living in the ECOWAS region, the only difference is that If someone is not from your region he has to abide by your laws and terms of residency just like a Nigerian living in Ghana, togo, Benin Republic e.t.c, the only thing that changes for people who are not indegenes is the law, meet the requirement and abide by the law and you can stay anywhere within the ECOWAS states

that is not true ? Is it Ogun state people that suspended the regional government? The last time I check it was the south- east region leaders that suspended the regional government… the Igbos leaders suspended the regional government in 1966 … so why are you making it look like it was the Ogun state ppl that did it …
