"Rainbow Nation" is a term coined by Archbishop Desmond Tutu to describe post-apartheid South Africa, after South Africa's first fully democratic election in 1994.

Archbishop Tutu was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1997, and he was hospitalized on several occasions in recent years to treat infections associated with his cancer treatment.

Tutu officially retired from public life in 2010, yet continued to do charity work through his Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.

On 07 October 2021 he celebrated his 90th birthday.

My respect for Desmond dropped a bit when he campaigned for legalization of Same sex marriage.
