Why Cross River State Cannot Grow and Develop under Governor Ayade.

Who is Ben Ayade? He is the current governor of the Cross River State of Nigeria. Governor Ayade record in office has proven that his administration is a failure. He ignored the kind of things that good governments do to grow and develop.

Key things to remember for governor Ben Ayade governing record include but not limited to bad roads in the state. In road infrastructure development, governor Ayade governance is a failure. Roads are a key issue and the infrastructure that supports the movement of people and logistics—forming the foundation of social and economic development, connecting villages, cities, ports, airports and other projects. One good example where governor Ayade has failed in road infrastructure is Calabar road to Uyo road in Akwa Ibom State (please the picture below). As the picture below will show (courtesy of thesouthernexaminier website), Calabar road to Uyo is a death trap to all motorists. In June 1, 2017 the former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development, Mr. Nsima Ekere escaped death on Calabar –Uyo road. A Police officer who was in the company of Nsima Ekere died in that accident.

And according to Photo Story website, it said “Mr. Ekere and others were on their way to Calabar, Cross River capital to receive Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who is on a working visit to the state.”

It is important to note that when Vice President Osinbayo visited Cross River state capital, he praised governor Ben Ayade for the road’s development projects in the state. In fact, my investigation revealed that Vice President Osinbayo was misled when he praised governor Ayade. Further examinations of what governor Ayade told Vice President Osinbayo revealed that Mr. Osinbayo did not know the terrible conditions of roads between Calabar and Uyo.

The terrible conditions on Calabar road linking to Uyo have prompted many church leaders and youths in Uyo to block roads in protest over reckless spending going in between Cross River state and Akwa Ibom State governments.

Furthermore, a report published in the Harabi Post website on November 15, 2021 said “since governor Ben Ayade took office in 2015, he has spent N4 trillion”. This begs one question: what has governor Ayade done with N4 trillion he has budgeted and spent?

Roads are major business corridors linking Calabar to Uyo--for access to markets, healthcare services, social services, education and more, but entirely ignored. How can governor Ayade grow and develop Crosss River state by ignoring this important business corridor?

Advantages of Building Calabar road Linking to Uyo Road
Building Calabar road linking to Uyo will have many economic and other benefits to both states.
 It will make both Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State to grow and develop by providing friendly business environments for investors to come in and open up businesses and to bring other materials needed for the production of goods and services.
 It will provide access to employment to citizens of both states
 It will provide access to health services, social services and education for citizens of both states
 Roads help to fight poverty by providing access to people to acquire skills needed for jobs.

Other key things to remember about governor Ayade are:
Governor Ayade stance on many other key issues in Nigeria has come under fire in recent years. A few months ago, he incensed many Nigerians by opposing anti-grazing law—a position widely embraced by the Southern governor’s forum. He viewed anti-grazing law as something that could lead to anarchy and even war. By opposing anti-grazing law, he ignored all violent acts like kidnapping of people, killings and vandalism of business and personal property committed by the herdsmen.

In addition, governor Ayade recent defection from PDP to APC and his conduct during the transition has broken all rules governing democratic transition. After governor Ayade defected from PDP to his new party, the APC, he forcefully took over the PDP secretariat at 42 Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar—a behavior that enraged party members from both sides of the aisle. He even changed the color of the building along the way. He forced government staff to change party---moved from PDP to APC or get fired. Governor Ayade is an insane man.

Finally, governor Ayade partisan politics makes it impossible for Cross River State to grow and develop. Building Calabar road to Uyo has many advantages. It would allow Cross River State to develop economically. Tourism volume from Calabar to Uyo can increase up to 50%--translating into jobs opportunities for citizens in both states. And that means increase revenues for government which can be used to fix roads and provide clean drinking water for citizens and even electricity. Building Calabar road to Uyo can provide citizens of both states access to education, social services like childcare, welfare for vulnerable children and elders, information for healthier life—which are keys to growing and developing state. These are things governor Ayade does not understand, and the reasons why Cross River State cannot grow and develop until he leaves office. That is so sad and bad for the citizens of the

Sageb and All,

I strongly agree with y'all!
Governor Ayade was a fraud from the first day he took office.
He never has real job experience except teaching, but don't get me wrong because I am a teacher. But I worked for a major organization before I began my teaching career.
Governor Ayade only office job experience is teaching. Governor Ayade brought no organization experience to the business of governance and that is why he has failed.
