Will Kanu's Release Affect Chances Of South East Presidency In 2023? by Chimaokigwe: 2:19pm On Dec 30, 2021
In the past few months, various Igbo leaders and groups have been appealing and advocating for release of the imprisoned leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
The irony of it all is that some Igbo Elders like Chukwuemeka Ezeife who supported Kanu in his secession drive have turned around to be begging for his release and are now turning around to beg for Presidency to be micro-zoned to the South East.

While this turnaround is an interesting development, another angle is this:

What if Nnamdi Kanu is released before the 2023. Would he mobilize to support Igbo Presidency and pledge allegiance to Nigeria or would he continue his secessionist drive and scuttle the chance of Presidency coming to the South East.

Releasing Kanu should be after Buhari's tenure and that wouldn't even be any priority for.the incoming government cos there are more important issue to look into

Igbos should stop dreaming. Nemo dat quod non habet, so they say in law.
1. Kanu will not be released until he's convicted by a court of law. Thereafter, he MAY BE granted presidential pardon under strict conditions which includes RENOUNCING BIAFRA PUBLICLY.

2. As it stands today, nobody from South East will emerge as the presidential flagbearer of the APC/or PDP. By extension, power will not go to the East in 2023.

You may quote me or abuse me. But this is the naked truth.

If you think Buhari went as far as somewhere 'Kenya' to fetch your hunchback albino porn star supreme leader to come and face his trial but only to release him so soon, then you should prepare for heart break.

See this from another angle, despite Fulani herdsmen killing people across Nigeria, it did not stop Nigerians electing a Fulani man like Buhari twice

Are you saying Igbos are causing unrest in SE just to win Presidency just like the same game Fulani's are playing?

IPOB should first encourage their members to register and get their voters card and get ready for 2023 election.
IPOB shouldn't continue to sabotage Igbo political aspirations by their nonsensical election boycott call every election year.

People like you have been voting since 1960 with nothing to show for it and you want IPOB to go and vote?

IPOB does want to be part of Nigeria, they want to vote in Biafra

If killer herdsmen, known to be mostly from the tribe of the president, slaughtering people all over Nigeria,
did not prevent the president from getting elected by Nigerians, then nothing IPOB does should prevent someone from the South east from getting elected

Is it not 'one Nigeria' any more?

Now we can understand Igbos motive.

Thanks for the clarification

Osita Chidoka is the best person to explain what Kanu can do to one's political aspirations. Kanu wrecked his chances during the Anambra governorship despite the fact that Chidoka supported Kanu.
Northerners will not vote for an Igbo candidate, not because he's not qualified but because of how Kanu has managed to wreck the political appeal of Igbos. Just how Igbos didn't vote Buhari, Northerners won't vote an Igbo candidate.

Igbos didn't vote Buhari. I don't know how Igbos expect Northerners to vote an Igbo candidate.
With Kanu in the mix, it is a near impossibility.

I said Buhari, you're talking about Yar'Adua. Azikiwe Jonathan was also voted for by the North. So, 1-1.

Even at that, during Yar'Adua's time, Kanu wasn't in the mix. So, the ethnic relationships have been altered. If you are still relying on previous sentiments as being valid today, I'll just laugh and move on.

Igbos voted for Atiku, he's from the North. And they voted for Yar'adua, he's from the North, and he's Fulani. Igbo's didn't vote for Buhari because they felt he was unqualified for the job, not because he's a Northerner. Fast forward to today and it's the North suffering the most from their own choice.

Kanu was very much in the mix when Igbos voted for Atiku.

The North not "wanting" to vote for a Igbo candidate, irrespective of what Igbo people do, is the very reason why Nigeria will eventually cease to exist. Right now, the only thing keeping Igbo people in Nigeria are the political elite. If an Igbo person is not elected president, everyone in Igboland, including all the politicians will give up on Nigeria.

I will not follow the pattern of victim mentality. What are Igbos doing to fight against vote apathy? Let Igbos do their homework first.

Nnamdi Kanu wouldn't have had to happen if Nigeria was fair and free country.

Igbo elders asking the government to release Nnamdi Kanu should be seen as a warning sign to Nigeria that Nnamdi Kanu's life is sacred and cannot be traded for anything.

IPOB are not intimidated, but i cannot vouch for the longevity of IPOB no violence method.
