He died on January 12, exactly the day he was sworn in as Governor on January 12, 2006 after the impeachment of his boss, Governor Rashidi Ladoja.

When he was in police in lagos, he said his house was a mecca for ogbomosho people. His people from home and got nowhere to stay in lagos, are welcomed. His house always jam-packed with his town people from home.

He was sacked from police because he was framed as supporter of June 12.

When politics started his people drafted him to go for chairmanship post. Of course he won with landslide.

Later again he was drafted by ladoja as deputy governor because of his overwhelming popularity in ogbomosho, which is the second biggest city in oyo state.

He loved his ogbomosho people to a fault. Too much love.
