According to newsday.com, a group of soldiers numbering twelve(12) from 344 artillery regiment , ezzillo in abakaliki ebonyi state, where attack by unknown gunmen who disguised as ebubeagu security members and launched an attack on a military vehicle with twelve(12) soldiers onboard.
According to an eyewitness who identified himself as mr jerry , said;
"The gunmen blockaded the run and pretended to be on a stop and search duty, the gunmen on sighting an incoming military vehicle tried to remove the blockade while the unsuspecting soldiers waited patiently for the blockade to be removed ,
Within fews seconds the gunmen launched a missile at the rear of the millitary tanks and at same time opened fire on the unprepared soldiers thereby killing nine(9)soldiers at the spot, three(3) fatally injured and their rifle's carted away."
