How have the 13% helped ur region? If ur region wanna truely be free, fight the NDDC leader's cos they are tremendously corrupt.

You guys sit and ask funny questions....well I can't speak for other states but it has helped my state Akwa Ibom a lot, even though a lot more would have been done if not for corruption, I know what my state was like before the derivation and other programmes.

When will the age of oil over? Countries are still reaping billions from oil. So the age of oil, an inescapable reality, is still many years ahead

SUFFERInSMILIIN:

The age of oil is over all over the world it is the same look at Saudi Arabia and Iran two sworn enemies are now coming together to talk peace because the age of oil is over oil is 3 times more expensive to produce than green energy

You are no prophet and stop engaging in self-deception. The activities of Niger-Delta activist is not responsible for the localization of oil companies HQS in Lagos State/Yorubaland. It was a post-civil war policy implemented by Awolowo to benefit his kinsmen and region

jrusky:
I warned you guys then but some people attacked me I'm a prophet with no church building bcus anything I say must surely come to pass sooner or later go back to my post during the heated militancy era its their boldly that I said "though the oil companies had depleted the environment badly and the course of these struggle is about fair share of oil dividend and improving the environment for livelihood which is absolutely correct and worth fighting for as Saro Wiwa wanted" but it was hijacked and militancy turned it to money making oil ridge and I said giung these way you will one day be begging those companies to return because you have compromised your stand on the real course of these struggle, now here we are.

Same way I'm warning my people about ipigs authoritarian approach naturally average Nigerian lack mental capacity to stay on course when they sense they have an edge over others they will use that slight edge to bully and suppress other and if allow to stand they will be touching everything and want to force entire lineage to obey them or suffer so they can be seen as Emperor. Look at Moham+mad of Boko Haram bitch, look at Kanu and his ipigs, look at Turji the f u c King bastard etc. Watch, the next order from ipigs is loading.......come back here and quote me then.

Gragra is not always a solution to some problems and if you are going to use gragra don't let money or acquiring weather be your motive orelse you will lost the game.

In years to come, the Northerners will likely begin to beg people to relocate back to their region. The North is trending towards being a ghost region. At least I know several civil servants including nurses that have relocated back to southern Nigeria having been chased by the unrest and insecurity pervading the place.

D'you remember the story of that baptist boys school abduction and the subsequent ransom and purchase of motorcycles for the bandits, yes. Right now, four of the kids have been brought to Lagos by their parents and have been enrolled into schools there. Neither the parents nor the kids have ever being to Lagos before, but they have no choice but to desert the North because the place is dangerous to their continued existence.

Now the effects of this emigration on the North, if you care to know, includes but not limited to reduced labour force, reduced development index, IGR, standard of living, reduced investment etc. The moment Nigeria divides into regions or true federalism becomes entrenched (either of the two is gonna happen soon), most States in the North risk being non-viable.

The topic is about Niger Delta! Why deviating ? If you want to raise issues about the North, why not go and open your own different thread about North.

After all the threats and kidnaps?

They're wrapping activities in naija, keeping mostly offshore where you can't reach easily

You and them both have helped to pollute the environment, you by breaking pipelines to steal oil. And they've left. Never to return

We were under the impression that the militants were fighting economic injustice. Then proved to be fighting stomach injustice. After receiving scrap from the federal government, they even invested tapping pipelines and stealing oil (which causes economic damage).

yes you're right. Not blaming Shell but they played the larger role. The level of flaring in Nigeria surpasses any other oil producing country and it's not the militants that are flaring. That's why PH is unbreathable and now has regular soot storms (though I don't think the leadership there will figure it out). That soot is slowly ending the lives of the people in that region but Nigeria is very slow to realize danger. When it's too late we'll panic.

But the locals play 60% of the role in causing the damage. And I include federal government in 'locals' because ultimately it's a failure of regulation. That being said, Shell does not behave the way it does in Nigeria in other countries and I know that as a fact
ultimately its the Federal Government and state government to blame. The companies can only flare because the government allows it..all they need do is pay a fee to flare.

But those militants are useless...fought for nothing but their stomach at the end of the day. Our lands and waters are now useless more than they were decades ago..

The North didn't start having IDP camp at the inception of their madness. It's a natural progression SE will soon start having. You don't graduate same year you enrol in a school, they are rapidly going in that direction with sure feet

Oil workers are a very tiny percentage of Lagos state workforce. In fact, all oil workers in Lagos put together are not up to the number of traders in Alaba market not to talk of Trade Fair or Computer village. Lagos is not like your useless state without any development or sensible leadership.

It's a sensible request. It's just arguable if the request is not coming too late. They were threatening to cripple Nigeria by destroying the oil companies but we all know that they need the oil coys more than other Nigerians do. They were just grandstanding then as if they really have alternative to a mutual relationship between them and the coys.

I have lived in one of the communities and pleasantly surprised that they have electricity and free healthcare provided by Shell but don't pay for it. Some communities actually benefit a lot from the oil coys, even scholarship most other Nigerians don t have access to but they allowed the politicians and vicious state actors come between them and their oil coys hosted in their communities.
Oil coys have been divesting for years now including Shell that divested from that my host community and these divestments are yet to abate. Now when my former host community experience criminal pipeline sabotage, the new Nigerian owners leave it to flow and flood everywhere for weeks instead of paying anyone the moment they stop them from fixing the pipes unlike then that Shell will be begging them and bringing in Soldiers to fix the oil pipeline sabotaged by some of these same saboteurs called militants like bandits killing folks now in Zamfara.

They have this false impressions that it's the job of oil coys to banish poverty and sustain their cultural polygamy system were the mothers still do most of the heavy lifting in the absence of men who leave a nomadic lifestyle.

Unfortunately for them, FG is gradually shifting to non oil exports especially from mining and more effective tax collection strategies.
I totally agree with you. I'm from Bonny Island, We are one of the fortunate people to enjoy everything you mentioned. We still enjoy steady power supply unlike other Nigerians. Unfortunately, I don't see things remaining the same few years from now. The world is changing and Nigeria must change with it. Nigeria can actually survive without oil or anyother natural resources. Japan, South Korea, Germany and many other countries did it. All we need is a very smart president and few sensible governors. But right now, I don't think there's any state in that country that's really trying, including Lagos State.
