Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade has has extended her contract with Atletico Madrid Femenino and she will be with them until the Summer of 2025. She was initially signed by Atletico Madrid from Avaldsnes of Norway on January 1st, 2021 on a two year contract.

Meanwhile, Asisat Oshoala's Barcelona Femeni (who were the league champions in the 2020-2021 season) defeated Rasheedat Ajibade's Atletico Madrid Femenino (who were the Queen's Cup winners in the same season) 7-0 in the final of the Supercopa de España Femenina yesterday.

Atletico Madrid Femenino has traditionally been Barcelona Femeni's main rival, but there's a new group on the block. Real Madrid bought over the women's club side, CD Tacon in 2019 and they are now known as Real Madrid Femenino. This has created a new rivalry and a new Classico.


Barcelona Femeni has been drawn to play against Real Madrid Femenino in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League and the second leg will be played at the Camp Nou on March 30th. More than 30,000 tickets for the game were bought in less than 24 hours, 50,000 tickets were bought on the first day and over 70,000 tickets were bought in the first two days. The entire 85,000 tickets that were up for sale were bought within 3 days!

(15,000 tickets are reserved for corporate sponsors).

This means that the match will probably set a new attendance record for women's club football. The previous record was set in March 2019 when 60,739 spectators were at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid to see Asisat Oshoala and Toni Duggan score to give Barcelona a 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona Femeni play their home games at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, which is a much smaller stadium than the Camp Nou, where the men's team play their home games. However, it has been announced that Barcelona are going to renovate the Nou Camp and most of their other existing facilities and so the men's team will play their home games at the Johan Cruff Stadium while the Nou Camp is being renovated. It hasn't yet been announced if the men's team and the women's team will share the Johan Cruyff Stadium, but it will also be expanded to seat more spectators.
