#accelerationismthe Latest CDC Data Update On COVID-19 Shows Vaccination Rates C by Uasldas: 2:12am On Feb 10, 2022 |
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the latest COVID-19 vaccination data on February 7, 2022, showing that more than 75% of people in the United States have received at least one dose of the vaccine. In addition, the agency's data tracker shows that 90 million people have received a COVID-19 booster shot, and more than half of children age 5 and older have been fully vaccinated. The CDC has a COVID-19 data tracking website with a tab for statistics on vaccine doses. The agency posted a simple infographic on Twitter with key details from its latest data update, announcing that 64.1% of people in the U.S. are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Additionally, 75.7% of Americans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, which equates to 251.2 million people. It is reported that the number of people fully vaccinated reached 212.9 million, while 90 million people have also received booster shots. The CDC's data tracker, which breaks down the numbers in more detail, shows that 95 percent of people 65 and older received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The percentages of all age groups eligible for vaccination were high; if looking at people 5 years and older, 80.4% had at least one dose of the vaccine, while 68.2% had been fully vaccinated. If you just look at the 18+ age group, the numbers climb a bit, with 74.4% fully vaccinated overall, bringing the U.S. extremely close to the three-quarters milestone -- at least when it comes to adults. Notably, according to the CDC's COVID-19 Data Tracker, a person is "fully vaccinated" if they have received either two doses of the mRNA vaccine or a single dose of the vaccine. These numbers do not take into account whether someone has received a booster shot, which improves protection against the virus but only for a minimum period of time after the initial shot. |
