A popular social media activist and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari for his failure to sack the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

According to him, the IGP should have been dismissed, after the suspended cop, Abba Kyari was sighted at his (Usman) son’s wedding two weeks ago.

Recall that the suspended former head of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team graced the wedding Fatiha of Maina Alkali, the son of Alkali Baba.

It was the first time Kyari was seen in a public function since the outrage that greeted his Facebook post on August 4, 2021, amid his controversial involvement with alleged internet fraudster, Hushpuppi.

As Nigerians were yet to come to terms with issues of his link with Hushpuppi, the former ‘super cop’ is currently in detention for his alleged links with a powerful drug cartel.

Recall that former Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos, despite resigning suddenly amid allegations of corruption during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Omokri believes that is how those found wanting in public offices should be treated, calling on Buhari to take a decisive action.

“If Buhari had any shame, by now the IGP would have been out of a job for hosting a then suspended Abba Kyari at his son’s wedding 2 weeks ago,” he tweeted.

Sharing a picture of Tafa Balogun in handcuffs, he added, “This is Obasanjo’s IGP in handcuffs. That is how to fight corruption. Not hosting a known criminal cop at your IGP’s home!

“Exactly 2 weeks to the day he was declared wanted by the NDLEA, Abba Kyari was a guest of the IGP at his son’s wedding.

“A man that was meant to be under suspension? It is not only Abba Kyari that should be answering questions. The IGP has serious questions to answer.”

With the revelations, the House of assembly is supposed to have withdrawn all accolades its accorded the former cop to instill a strong signal of upholding standards on the populace that integrity still matters..

We see sportsmen, celebrities and others loose endorsements instantly when bad behaviors are uncovered to send a strong signal of keeping standard to the populace, because they exist on the will of the populace.

He should have resigned voluntarily by now if Nigeria was a normal society. Everything Abba Kyari did, can't be done without having the authority from above. The way they treated the FBI's application for his extradition, the way they watered down the seriousness of the crime and even the police committee's recommendations showed that they were protective of Abba Kyari. He was still operating with his team even when the police authorities told the whole world that he was under suspension.

He was suspended for and alleged offence and has not been proved guilty,the wedding is a casual occasion and not an official duty.when e was suspended,he wasn't remanded so what stops him from attending functions as guest.
Mr reno know it all.

Most citizens are unpatriotic (regardless of duty or position) and have limited ideas on what integrity should be. We like corruption here...we only fume when we're not benefiting.

One of the biggest mistakes I think we've been regurgitating in our national sphere is the insinuation that Buhari abhors corruption. By his fruits, actions and inactions, he has shown himself to have a super-perverted sense of fighting corruption.
The handling of the Kyari mess has shown the complicitness of the police top echelon in the whole brouhaha. With the kid-gloves handling of such stink, the police chief should have been relieved of his duties a long time ago.
