Lol when Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 they were sanctioned, but Russia wasn't prepared for those sanctions on 2014.
This time, they are prepared. Russia over the years have been gradually removing the US dollar as a foreign reserve currency and replacing it with gold. Sanctions in 2022 would hurt the Russian economy, but it would not cripple it or devastate it as the Western leaders want you to believe.
Also, sanctioning Russia without China cooperating is laughable. China and Russia are trading partners and they don't use the US dollar for trade.
So you see, the sanctions would not hurt them as bad as 2014.

I think Russia action is appropriate and expedient, but u lot should stop miseducating people out of euphoria. Russia is way behind USA when it comes to military potentials. They are the second strongest in the world, however, they still come in distant second. Putin said this clearly about 4days ago in his speech while recognizing the independence of the breakaway regions, he however noted truthfully, that they are better in some very few but vital technology.
NATO isn't going to attack Russia not because they can't beat Russia but because of the nuclear deterrent Russia possesses. Its almost the same way, they won't attack North Korea.
Nuclear weapons and good delivery systems is a strong enough deterrent for any nation. It will take very extreme situation for a country like USA to dam the consequences and attack a nuclear capable state.
