The long running saga of

Becomerich vs Nairaland

This battle is almost as old as nairaland itself. Becomerich has launched attacks against nairaland and its bandwidth using weapons like mapographic scud missiles, graphic and horrifying cruise missiles (made up of pictures of blood and gore) and bunker bursting batu bombs.

Nairaland on its part has retaliated using weapons such as banning and deletion.

However, Mr Musiwa devised an antidote to Nairaland's counter-attacks and that antidote is composed of numerous IDs, eg Becomerich 1-100, Becomrich, Becoomerich, Becomricha, Becomericher, Eguofor, Complove, Nigeria1, Nigeriaone, Bashali, Tayo4life and Uche 2005. He also created a "rival" website known as Globe.

The audience in this battle (Nairalanders) have often switched sides, sometimes backing becomerich and at other times supporting Nairaland. This led to the famous incident when Becomrich was voted politics section poster of the year, disqualified and then reinstated.

It made no difference. Musiwa would simply register a new handle each time and return to post his maps and speak in the 3rd person about governing his quixotic Republic of Western Nigeria. Each one of the multiple handles he spawned would have a number after it, apparently signifying the number of times he had been banned. Upon getting to “Musiwa112”, he added a tributary handle called “Becomrich”, which did the same things as the infinite Musiwa handle - high-res images, never-ending maps, ban-resistance and all. The mods tried everything - keyword bans, IP bans, registration restrictions - but nothing worked on Emperor Musiwa.

I feel so sad. A few years ago I shared a post from an ancient thread and someone saw what I shared and then posted on the thread. The post attracted Nairaland's admin to the thread and he deleted that ancient thread.

That ancient thread ( "Aloy-Emeka Mr Tribalist Cousin ) is the funniest thread that has ever been created in the history of Nairaland (and that's something, because the four combatants on that thread have created other truly crazy threads). I feel like I was responsible for the devaluation of Nairaland. Nairaland is not the same without that thread.

Imagine Beaf spamming Becomerich's thread with incredibly long and never ending pictures. Imagine Becomerich (Ademusiwa) singing and reciting prayers in order to cure Beaf of his "madness".

Imagine Tpia (in Musiwa's corner) reminding everyone that Musiwa was not the mad one on the thread. That then led to a rematch of Beaf vs Tpia. Beaf sounded very conciliatory when he appealed to Tpia to let bygones be bygones. And to show that he was serious, he also posted a link to a very "lovely picture of Tpia". I clicked on that link (the day the thread was crwated) and then laughed so hard that I almost choked on spit. It was one of the most insulting pictures ever.

Then there was Aloy-Emeka in Beaf's corner. Her presence sent Musiwa into another level of madness and we had Aloy-Emeka vs Becomerich part 3 (Remember "Mapomeji Is Finally Out"? ).

Gosh! Nairaland lost a lot the day that thread was deleted.
