BBC Hausa which is based in London, is celebrating it's 60 years of broadcasting in Hausa language. The Hausa service of BBC started broadcasting 2 years after Nigeria gained her independence. 60 years later, the Hausa service of BBC has grown to become a major news outlet of the BBC.

The BBC World Service encompasses an English 24-hour global radio network and separate services in 27 other languages. News and information is available in these languages on the BBC website. The BBC Hausa is one amongst the oldest languages of BBC.

Bbc is british state media - what is their business with hausa?? It's like NTA broadcasting in French.

The only goal if this government body I.e. bbc is to exert soft power over Nigeria....if you control their language you control them.

Britain doesn't hv good intentions.

Almost all international radio stations have their own Hausa service section, Germany, France, China, Iran, America, England...

That's because they want to continue to exert soft power over you....

We should further ask "how has that relevance developed Hausa land from what it was before we gained independence".

Whites are whites and it doesn't matter what they try to fake, they don't really like you.

Kudos to them. We need more Nigerian languages to be added, and hopefully people would want to listen to news in their own language.
This would help encourage the use of Nigerian languages in official capacities.

You have just stated the truth. They started broadcast 2 years after independence (which they were forced to give due to Soviet pressure)....it's obvious it's a way to maintain power. Same reason they do it in 27 other languages

The head of BBC Hausa is Nigerian, all her reporters from Ghana, Nigeria, Niger, and other parts of the world are Hausas. Events like world cup, Olympic, Nations Cup, Premier league games commentators, political analysts are all Hausas or sometimes interpret the situation in Hausa language if the reporter is from English or other services or the analysis/commentary is being made by non Hausa speaker.
We are very much informed with verifiable news outlets broadcasts in Hausa for many decades, hardly u see a Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, or other Northern tribes not listening to news from those foreign Hausa news. Now, all these Hausa foreign media have application used on mobile phones. There are BBC Hausa Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages and the same applied to Deutsch Welle and VOA Hausa news.
VOA and Dutch Welle Hausa also existed for almost 60yrs too and it is impossible to be controlled by media houses from at least 3 different countries for 60yrs without uncovering the sinister motive.
Interestingly, hardly u see something being broadcast which seems to be like they are trying to impose something onto us except sometimes VOA Hausa have some few minutes session in a wek which they broadcast Voice of America. Religious events and discussions are open to both Christians and Muslims. Very educative and enlightenment program are being broadcast.
America
England
Germany
China
France
Iran
Libya have Hausa news broadcasting channels for many years!

Note: Nigeria newspapers like Vanguard, Leadership, DailyTrust(Aminiya), Legit, Premium Times and many other local newspapers broadcast in Hausa as u can see in my attachment, therefore it is the matter of audience not manipulation!
