Not just small companies but also banks, I worked with a toxic boss in a bank, he's a cool guy until you mess up.

The truth is that, Nigerians are toxic people generally. They can go to any length just to frustrate your life. And they backbite a lot, saying all sorts of things in one's absence. And the gossipers will rather listen to bad stories than good ones.

Fact is i have worked for both good and bad employers and learned from them.
When i started my personal business in 2013, i elso employed good and bad employees.
Whichever one you belong, we have both good and bad employers and employees scattered all over the country.
I see it as a blackman thing. The crab mentality.
The boss is too bossy while the worker only care about his or her pay.
If you havent tasted both side, u will be bais with your judgement.
In all we do , posterity will judge us all.

This is why you need labour unions. The company I worked in before was unionised. The ceo also showed a lot of these traits, but it had to be limited to managers. You could not arbitrarily sack non management staff. But managers - please escort so and so to the exit

You didn't make any sense. Could you rephrase your words?
take it or leave it the Nigerian system is crude hence the low productivity, when you manage Nigerians you'd understand an average Nigerian would rather not do their duty and get paid for it . Go to every local government council in Nigeria which is perfect case study except maybe Lagos. And a start up needs the blood and sweat of the CEO's especially in a society like ours. I'm not justifying his verbal abuses I'm only saying there's a reason most CEO's act this way .

How can you not justify his verbal abuse only to justify his verbal abuse.

If an employer is not performing well, you could:

Demote them.
Query them.
Suspend them.
Fine them.
Sack them.

You can do all these without raising your voice.

Toxic jobs exist in almost all sectors from private organisations to Civil service, government Jobs, academia or even business.those Market women you see selling products like vegetables, meat or onions, you don't want to know the Level of envy and vile politics that goes on among them

Study them.if one woman was able to struggle and send her kids to the university, the way they'll hate on her and try to bring her down by telling other customers not to buy from her is something else.some Will even Go as far as labelling her diabolical

I said it's a reflection of the crude society we live in not everything in theory is applicable in the Nigerian realm . How many demotion, query suspension, fine and sack will you have to go through as a CEO before you loose your nuts . As I've said in the other thread what can be done is to delegate power and have a legit board , but we shouldn't forget it's still a start up that needs less expenditures

Companies that don't abuse their employees, do the CEOs have two heads?

In some cases, all you need is to make a scape goat and others will comply.

If your employees are giving you headaches all the time, then you need to fix your recruitment process.
Funny thing is, these same employees will work for a foreign firm and perform better without getting yelled at.

Lol... I see. The man actually brought himself low in the process. An employer who really has the power to sack someone shouldn't be engaging in this kind of petty fight.

A problem working from small companies. Those working for big multi national comps wia they earnbig no get this problem. The top is so much betta.

The problem with 9JA offices is mostly from the competitive toxic co-workers going behind to slander and betray dia colleagues in order to get a upper hand or favor. It can be anybody working in the office, gate man, security, your co workers etc.

Just know some one has gone to fall your hand behind your back, when ur boss/mgt start giving u attitude. Some times the boss become envious too. We also have bosses who are just naughty (weak men/women) they just love to dehumanize their workers. Its part of the slavery trick.

Quiting the job is the best option for me.

Nigerian bosses too like gossips.

Low lives!

Toxic boss = Dr Emeka Nwankwo

He singlehandedly made the companies Aquada Development Ltd and Idmann Academy a toxic environment. Man sets employees against themselves.

Toxic workplace exist every where in the world, it's not just limited to Nigeria. But the thing is nigerians generally lacks emotional intelligence thus resort to external aggression easily.

I understand the pressure is crazy on most of this start up founders. They need to justify the investments on their companies but that is no reason to treat workers like shit. India and Chinese start ups go thru worse and over 90 percent of them eventually fold up. That is the reality of start ups business the founders must embrace.

Finally, it seems Nigerians are not ready for globalisation. It's fucking competitive and employers need very hardworking and discipline employees...thats the only way to keep the company afloat.
Unfortunately nigerians are not used to this type of hellish effort. We keep talking about western companies treat employees better....why do u think they moved their factories to Asia.
Asians work like robots on meagre pay. Globalists love that and that's why wealth is moving east...
And me was thinking some of this indian start up and asian factories can move to Africa.
Guess I was wrong.

Tech people are naturally people that work too much and might just expect same from everybody.

People that complain about all these might be the non tech workers working in these tech companies.

This guy here said the truth about people in tech.
I'm not holding brief for any stupid boss, I have had my own share of horrible bosses-mind was even an uncle. So chill.

You see, an average Nigerian is lazy. To be good at tech you have to comit at least 4hours of rigorous practice and reading daily. How many graduates really study that hard? Probably few.

So the moment you demand more from a worker you become toxic- motherf*ckers think making money in this country is easy.

But you see the ones that will owe you salary? Na thunder go fire them!

One red flag I ALWAYS avoid is the Oga that will force you to do prayer and fasting, go to his church etc. Those ones are EVIL men holding bible. I fact if I see big cross, church stickers everywhere, them give me church bulletin at interview! My brother just Japa!!!

People working in some private sector in Nigeria are really trying, no lie.

My colleagues used them instead, i.e they will use the company's name, marketing allowance and official car to get contracts, they will take it to Alaba OR all these people and run it themselves with those people and pocket the money.

I was part of those that left mid-month because I had better things to do.

Could it be the Company you were working for was not making money because you and your Colleagues were Fraudulently using the Company provided resources to divert Contracts meant for the Company into your own and your Colleagues Pockets.

You sir, are one of those Employees that hinder Company growth

Look, a bad person is a bad person. It's better you sack employees than call them fuckers and rain curses/abuse on their family.

A good person should know when to see the therapist or have people that will alert them when they need one.

The system is bad yes, but if you're a shitty person, you're shitty. Simple.
