ALIMOSHO PDP TOWN HALL MEETING WITH DELEGATES, LEADERS AND STAKEHOLDERS

Friday, 25th March, 2022 is a day that the PDP family in Alimosho L.G.A will never forget in a hurry. Leaders, delegates and stakeholders of the party were hosted to a town hall meeting by Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya, in partnership with his allies from The Nigerian Alliance.

At about noon, the corps d'elite of Alimosho PDP started converging at the exclusive and exquisite ambience provided by Da'Bof Event Center, Akowonjo. This elite club of members comprised of all 5 principal officers of the 11 wards, all Alimosho L.G.A officers, numerous party leaders and stakeholders. Beyond the merry-making which was in abundant supply, the unprecedented nature of this town hall meeting presented a rare platform for members of the party to interact, ask questions and brainstorm ahead of 2023.

While calling on all present to lend their voices to the discussions, the compere of the occasion, Mr. Ayodele Kazeem asserted that the priority topic on the agenda is: POST-MORTEM OF 2019, MYTHS, REALITIES AND THE WAY FORWARD. Waxing proverbial, he cited a Yoruba adage that says "a child looks forward when he falls down but an adult would rather look backwards to find out the reason behind the fall". He compared our mannerisms as a party to that of a child who never bothers to find out the reason behind the fall.

Furthermore, he averred that there won't be a better opportunity for members to jawjaw than the one availed by this town hall meeting. In his opening remarks, Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya's autopsy on what led to the party's failings in 2019 was delivered with surgical precision. He comprehensively discussed the challenges posed by the palpable disunity in the party at that time and the perennial issue of disbursed funds and its appropriation. While pledging that lessons have been learnt and there won't be a reoccurrence of those maladies, he commended the party for still putting up a respectable showing despite the odds.

Speaker after speaker; the barrage of questions, observations and in some cases; the venting of grievances were entertained and accordingly responded to by the leaders at the podium. In all, the enthusiasm showcased by all stakeholders is a pointer that the days of disunity and impunity are over. Rather, there is a new era driven by purposeful leadership and encompassing inclusiveness as personified by the incumbent Alh. Isiaka Sodiya who was present at the event.

Additionally, Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya utilized the moment to acquaint the Alimosho PDP stakeholders, delegates and leaders of the mission, vision and objectives of The Nigerian Alliance which has adopted him as one of its candidates for the 2023 general elections. In the practice of hearing from the horse's mouth, Miss Damilola Bukola, leader of the TNA delegation to the event was invited to the podium.

After laying bare the criteria for choosing AZ, as he is fondly called and all its other candidates nationwide, she further highlighted the role the platform hopes to play in ensuring that AZ doesn't only pick the ticket from the primaries, but also goes ahead to win the elections proper. She further appealed to the delegates to cast their votes for AZ during the party primaries.

Buoyed by the support of The Nigerian Alliance and the party leaders, stakeholders and delegates alike; AZ officially declared his intention to run as Representative for Alimosho Federal Constituency come the 2023 general elections. Amid rapturous applause, the crowd appreciated him for joining the race. Whisperings across the hall suggested that no other aspirant in the L.G.A possesses the needed wherewithal and ability to think out of the box as domiciled in AZ.

Ultimately, on behalf of AZ and The Nigerian Alliance; a souvenir bag which contained a branded t-shirt, VIP food pack and other incentives were given to each delegate and leader. The event came to a pulsating end with a road walk powered by TNA to distribute leaflets and awaken voters awareness.

E-signed,
Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya.
