Don’t think that Ukraine is a unfortunate victim. This is a very difficult question, difficult situation. In order to correctly understand everything that is happening now between Ukraine and Russia, you need to know the history of the country in which I was born - the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), where Russia and Ukraine, together with the other thirteen union republics, were equal, like brothers and sisters in one family. Over the history of many years of living together, Donbass (Donetsk basin, a region with many coal mines) and Crimea were annexed to Ukraine, although for hundreds of years these were the lands of Russia.

In the Donbass, the majority of the population has always been Russian people. My father's parents arrived there shortly after his birth, in 1933 from central Russia. And there were thousands of such people.

Since the Donbass belonged to the Ukrainian Soviet Republic, there were always two languages: Russian and Ukrainian. In ordinary life, they often spoke and still speak Russian.

Everything changed after 1991, when cunning politicians-dealers destroyed our huge state of the USSR. Russia and Ukraine became separate countries. At the same time, Ukraine pursued an unfriendly policy towards Russia and the Russian language, nationalists raised their heads - the descendants of Ukrainian bandits who brutally killed Russians, Belarusians, Jews, Poles in 1941-1945. After 1945, they hid in the forests of Western Ukraine, killed communists at night, and dealt with their families. My school teacher was a witness to their atrocities, told us about it.

After the violent overthrow of the President of Ukraine in 2014, the people of Donbass decided on autonomy. For this, the Ukrainian troops went to them with tanks and military aircrafts. The people took up arms to defend themselves. Among these people were those with whom I studied at school. Ordinary middle-aged people: a teacher, a miner, a driver, a sports coach who once defended the honor of Ukraine at international competitions. They did not want to remain part of the fascist-minded Ukraine. For this, the Ukrainian military shelled their houses from “Grads” (multiple rocket launchers) for 8 years, women and children were forced to hide at night in basements and bomb shelters. I was in Donbass in 2016 and 2017, I saw everything with my own eyes. I lived in the same hotel with OSCE members, who for some reason did not tell the world the truth about what the Ukrainian army was doing with part of its people.

Back in 2014, Donbass asked Russia for help, to accept them as part of Russia. But the Russian government did not want to aggravate relations with Ukraine, trying to explain to the government of Ukraine that it was impossible to behave like this with their own people, that peace negotiations were needed. Ukraine, feeling the support of the United States, several European countries, behaved impudently, wanted to destroy the Donbass, which decided to secede from Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities sought war by all means. We asked, persuaded, explained, demanded. I repeat, this went on for eight long years. During this time, almost 15 thousand people died in the Donbass. And now patience has snapped ... Russia is forced to use military force to protect the people of Donbass. But do not blame Russia for this. This cannot be done, just as it is impossible to blame a man who stood up for a woman who is being beaten in front of his eyes by an impudent strong villain. This man has no other choice but to punch this scoundrel in the face, twist his hands behind his back.

Even now, the Ukrainian army is shooting at Gorlovka, the city of my childhood. On February 25, a Ukrainian shell hit the building of a school in the district where I once lived. Two teachers died. They were at their workplace. One of them was born in 1969, a teacher of geography, natural history, economics (30 years of teaching experience), the other was born in 1977, a teacher of the Russian language (16 years of teaching experience). After the recent death of her husband, she raised her son alone. And now an eleven-year-old boy is left an orphan...

Yesterday (26.02), a young, beautiful music teacher died in my city. She left behind a ten-year-old son.

Today (27.02), three civilians died in my city, one of them is a very small child.

And in July 2014, the sister of my niece's classmate died in Gorlovka - she was walking in the park with her ten-month-old daughter in her arms. The Ukrainian army began shelling with "Grads". A young woman (23 years old) was buried with a baby in the same coffin. Now she is called the Gorlovskaya Madonna.

How much can you endure this?!

The Russian army is trying not to harm the peaceful civilian population of Ukraine and treats the captured Ukrainian military with respect. The Russian government and army want to end nationalism and the desire of the current Ukrainian government to live at the behest of the United States.

Many Ukrainian soldiers and officers are now throwing down their weapons, surrendering to the Russian army, but nationalist detachments often hold the civilian population hostage in the cities where they are still located, exposing them to mortal danger. They act like terrorists.

Any war is grief. I have close people both in the Donbass and in Ukraine. Everyone suffers. Soldiers of Russia and Ukraine are dying. My heart aches for everyone, for everyone, except for Ukrainian nationalists.

I don't want war. But I understand very well that the President of Russia could not do otherwise. I believe in him and in Russian soldiers.

I hope that everything will stop soon, and a peaceful life without fascism will begin in the Donbass and Ukraine.
