Good evening NAIRALAND LERD, pls I have a 2006 toyota corolla. The car vibrates when ever I hit a speed of 80 to 100. I have changed the inner cup and all my steering arm. Problem still persist... What do I do??

Note... It does not vibrate at low speeds less than 80.

Had similar experience. If it was engine mounts or any of those mounts, he won't have gone as far as changing arms and inner cup.

This should solve the problem.

But he should make sure he has good tyres and have done wheel balancing and alignment in a good service center

Bad mounts will vibrate, irrespective of vehicle speed. They show themselves very obviously when cranking, especially cold. Examine them physically and take the ride on truly bad roads...if they are guilty, their character will come out.

My take will be the tie rods and the knuckles. When last were they changed? A visual inspection should guide you in this respect.

Suspension challenges are one of the most difficult to diagnose. Be patient and be prepared to do a chunk of the work yourself.

why not start your diagnosis with the simplest things?
are your wheels balanced?
how about your tyres?
a wobbled tyre will show same symptoms.
an unbalanced or bent wheel will do same.
swap your tyres front to back and back to front. if symptoms persist you can rule tyres and wheels out and focus on other things.
next inspect your bushings, ball joints etc

I discovered that my 2 rear tyres were swollen wen i went for wheel balancing. Thats the first thing u should do.

both tyres were replaced.

And both front inner shaft was bad also. Be careful when replacing the inner shaft (inner cup) because there's alot of bad ones in the market that has been refilled with metal welding, ur mechanic should be able to chose a good direct belgium for u

the most careful thing is to make sure the shaft don't contaminate the gear oil. let it be brand new if possible or wash it with fuel to be sparkling and sun dry it. if not you may lose your gear

In as much as you are right bro, the most important thing is to let the car cool for atleast 3hrs before removing the inner shaft from the transmission.

One of The most causes of transmission failure is removing the inner shaft while the transmission is still hot, and not necessarily the dirt sir.

Lolz. So you think the car has to cool for 3hrs? Those are naija mechanic myth which we all follow. The dirt/contamination is the real deal. Go and ask most cars owner how their gears Are damaged. Or ask the nairaland specialist.

Also, topping the gear oil with the wrong one

2008 sienna, lexus, ES350, LEXUS RX330, and host of other cars will fail transmission if you remove the inner shaft at optimum temperature. This is not a myth

The dirt u spoke about (if any) will be filtered by the transmission oil filter inside the transmission.

Nobody opens a transmission/engine when it is hot

I have actually changed my gear oil 13pin within 2 hrs after driving to a mech workshop

Google is your friend.
Nobody touches and engine or gear when it is hot. It is not comfortable.
You need to do more research even here on nairaland. A lot of explanation has been shared

why not immediately? 2hrs is too long.

Changing oil is different from removing the drive shaft. U rather need to Google

GAZZUZZ:

The 2005/6 Camry 4cylinder is matted to the U250E 5 speed transmission unit.

It is a very sensitive transmission unit that will not entertain any form of contamination .

One of the reasons this particular transmission fails is because most technicians work in environments that can easily facilitate contamination .

Major cause of failure is sand/dirt getting into the transmission from 2 places .

1. CV axle

2. Refill port

Another place that could cause failure in this transmission (and many others) is a damaged air vent which is located on top the transmission housing. The air vent I usually extended via a plastic joint and a rubber pipe, and raised to the level of the height of the dipstick, or close to the vehicles head cylinder. The reason the vehicle manufacturer raised the Vent that high was to limit the possibility of water entering into the transmission during driving in wet conditions that might involve water levels that would possibly submerge the transmission which is very common on most Nigerian terrains. When the plastic joint gets damaged it is easy for fluid from external sources to contaminate transmission .

Now to your present situation.

Vehicle is produced with a 5speed aka 13pin transmission which is currently failing.

What is recommended is a 4speed 10pin transmission .

The vehicle will move (the wonders of Toyota/Lexus) but when wiring it up installer has 5solenoid connections and 4 solenoids.what happens is vehicle will always skip a gear that will not be connected . The vehicle will no longer be able to downshift, and on every cycle of transmission shifts you will notice an uncomfortable thump.

I understand why most technicians avoid the U250E transmission, this is because in this part of the world we are not very smart, the engine sellers remove the CV axles from the transmissions and leave them bare which also is a possible cause of contamination , and because it is already a sensitive transmission the technician is already setup for failure before he starts the job.

My advice contact the transmission seller to supply and install transmission . He will provide part, oil and installer , and will give you a guarantee on work done , he will also replace transmission as many times as required until it works.

Good luck.
