Gender equality encourages expressiveness, tends to enable justice and fairness which breeds positive energy, and reduces the chances of being meted out pernicious acts unaware - among other positivities. But much of this has nothing to do with gender equality though.

Gender equality doesn't mean males will now use the same bathroom as females. So I don't know why you are now stirring this here discussion towards just that.

Gender equality is madness. Yes I believe everyone irrespective of gender should be provided a level playing field and have access to the same opportunities but gender equality does not describe this at all.

First, how many genders are we equalizing? Today there are like over a hundred genders with every gender group fighting for prominence so how many genders are we equalizing. Is a transwoman equal to a biological woman? Well a transwoman impregnated female inmates in a New Jersey prison and this flies in the face of equality. Second. How do you equate genders without comparing oranges with tangerine. Yes both orange and tangerine share a lot of similarities but it utterly despicable to deem them equal. A man is a man and a woman is a woman they are not equal. One man plus one woman equals one man and one woman.

Third. This gender equality crap backfires spectacularly in our liberal world. Now misogynistic and patriarchal men can simply identify as women and claim equality with women. This would result in more men escaping responsibility for their actions as men. In addition biological males who identify as women can now compete with women in traditional women domains and with the inherent bias of a patriarchal society on their side the discrimination against women becomes much much worse. An example can be seen in the participation of transwomen in biological women's sports and the use of women's safe spaces by so called transwomen.

Fourth. Gender equality does not equalize the outcomes of genders across social, economic and political strata. Why do women want to be equal to high performing men (who make up 1% of men globally)? Why not seek to be equal to the worst men in the society? Men are mostly bricklayer. Men are mostly mechanics. Who jumps into your septic tank to scoop your shit, mostly men. Who mounts pylons to install national grids, mostly men. Who work on oil rigs, mostly men. Why not seek equality in these occupations? Men commit suicide disproportionately more. Should we equalize that? Men do poorly in school compared to the women. Should we equalize that?

Five. Gender equality ignores inequalities within genders. Can we for goodness sake have a conversation about how and why some women are much much more richer, more fulfilled and have higher life expectancies than some other women within the same geographical, economic, political and social realities? Why does DJ Cuppy have access to more life choices than your average Shomolu, Mushin, Orile or Bariga girl of the same age? Can we have that conversation?

Six. When are we going to examine other inequalities. Health inequalities, educational inequalities, financial inequalities and a host of other inequalities caused by tribalism, ethnic and racial marginalisation?

Seven. What have the proponents and champions of gender equality done concerning social issues disproportionately affecting women all around the world, apart from making a lot of noise. Women are the drivers and victims of pornography the most. What have feminists done concerning it?
