Read through some of the replies I dropped, and you would know how to get started in technical writing.

I'll be dropping about 15 sites where you can apply for writing gigs. That would be later sha. Cuz I'm too occupied with some interview tasks.

I submitted that US startup interview task today (which was the deadline). I really hope to get a call back to move to the next stage because I love their product.

Oh did I mention that I was finally able to do the OAuth login stuff. I had to set up a proxy server and use it to request for an access token from GitHub, which would grant the user access to the app.

I had to do a lot of documentation reading and stackoverflowing to figure it out. Sometimes it's not just about code, you have to learn the skill of reading documentations grin

It's a fintech company specialising in cryptocurrency trades, decentralised finance and some fiat stuffs too.

One of the joy and perks of working in tech as I've noticed, is the fact that you can get a chance to work on exciting products which millions of people around the world would be using. It's insane. It's one of the things that drives me in this journey.

To many of us, tech gave us hope. Especially in this country that basically has nothing to offer the youths.

Back to my laptop.

Hi , this is my first time posting on a thread. Honestly going through this thread has been so insightful and has really enlightened me as a total beginner in the tech world. I am so new to tech and I chose front-end Dev as a start for me to learn. Thanks to university strike, I am still slowly getting acquainted to what it entails and looking through your experiences, I was a bit worried if tech is the right path for me, cos I am a second year medical student and I am just looking to learn a lot and maximize this break in the best way possible.
Please what advice can you give me to encourage as I embark on this tech journey, thanks .
And yes, kudos to you @TheManoftheYear, your story has been really inspiring, wishing you many more wins ahead

Lol bro, I know final year med students whom I left in school, and they are working as programmers. Of course it's not easy, given that medicine is equally demanding, but everything I believe is possible if one puts his mind to it.

My story inspiring? grin There's nothing special about my story so far. I'm just like every other person looking to break into tech. Just sharing my experiences bro.

You've got this

Thanks a lot for this

Omo, I use a HP Probook.
8gb RAM, 500 GB HDD, core i5, Windows 10.

Certainly not a top tier laptop, but it has served me so far

Is this what is crashing under Node.js? I'm presently using one with similar spec and got it with the hope it serves well when I eventually begin with react and node.

I asked u a question for clarity, instead of you to answer it maturely you decided to bring out the foolishness in you.

Stop telling him not to ask questions, it's his right to ask questions anywhere he isn't clear on. Each individual has his/her own pace of assimilation and retention. For him it might be 3 months and for others it might be 5-6 months. And besides he didn't ask you did he? He put that question to TheManOfTheYear.

No the laptop can run node well.
I figured it was some mistake in the code reference.

My "process.env" wasn't working properly.

Well I wouldn't say there's a time frame for learning a language like JS, truth is, it would take years to master it. But you can learn the basics in three months and move on to a framework or library like React, Angular etc

You won't go far in this field if you keep asking silly questions like the one you asked above.
Bye!

I use MTN, sometimes I use a Tizeti router when I'm coding at a friend's. Doesn't really matter.

Learn and grab? Yes it is possible. With dedication and straight forward course/tutorial.

But to master or become a pro at building projects with JavaScript now depends on you.

You're too daft for this reply. Even the person that created the thread didn't respond like an animal unlike you.

What happened to read and pass if you are too daft to answer the question.
It takes one to be something, to be able to identify the particular thing in another person. So, I'm pretty sure your Dad is a daft idiot, that's why he gave birth to a fool like you.

People going by the ill-mannered responses and attitude of your response to the gentleman that asked a question can relate to who's parents are fools. If you have been privileged to be brought up by a parent you won't be referring to people's parents on this forum

But I always know your type that could not trace any path to any of your parents, probably your agbero father impregnated your Olosho mother under Obalende bridge and the agbero father ran away from the oncoming responsibilities.

Probably the reason the irresponsibility of your parents is checking on you.

Hi guys, yeah so I'm dedicating this thread for the purpose of outlaying my job hunting experiences so far in getting my first full time tech role.

grin This might give aspiring learners and complete beginners an overview of what to really expect (or so I hope).

Mehn, this is really inspiring I must confess, thanks for making such a thread. I hope to hear the good news one day. Bro, this year is the year!

I'm a fullstack developer, I look forward to learning a lot here.

5DME and Deepocean, please can we all calm down and take a chill pill.

This thread is for us to learn and examine the process of breaking into a fast growing field like tech. Not for heated exchanges and name-callings.

Let's behave like professionals that we are. Thanks

So guys, in the midst of my entire job search, I've landed another technical writing gig. It just came at the right time meehn grin

Sapa be wan dey romance my neck.
I'd be writing on the company's API and a good use case for it.
The pay is about $300.

I got this gig from someone whom I've worked with before. That's why you can't undermine the importance of networking and first impression in tech.

I didn't apply for this gig, I was simply offered on a platter, because I've impressed during my first time working with him, and when he left the first company to join a new one, I simply continued chatting with him on Twitter. We became friends sort of.

At least, I can use this one to hold body before an engineering job comes through.

I'm still working on my second take home test, this is literally the hardest shít I've done. It's an e-commerce store from scratch. Well, I'm expected to submit this week. So I'm trying to round it up.

Fingers crossed.
