As you embark on your study abroad adventure for the very first time, you might feel nostalgia for home at first. It's a normal reaction to new living conditions, so keep your spirits up.
Studying abroad brings about new opportunities and amazing experiences in unusual environments far away from family and friends. Adaptation to a new country takes some time. Following are some recommendations to facilitate the process.

1. Be responsible
It is very important to make the most use of all opportunities that come your way during your studies abroad. It is also very important to behave responsibly. Try not to get into any situations that might get you into trouble or harm you in any way.

2. Study very hard
Studying is really an important part of education. Try to go to the library, and form a study group with fellow classmates. This is a good way to bond with your classmates and that can help to learn topics that you're finding particularly difficult.
During your studies at university, it is very important to join societies and clubs, but it's very good to make sure that you don't let studying fall by the wayside.

3. Don't miss a chance to make new friends
While studying abroad, you have a unique opportunity to meet new people, make friends with people from different cultures, and learn about other countries and customs.
It can also be highly beneficial to know people from different countries around the world while you're still in school, many lifelong friendships start at the university.

4. Learn how to do things independently
Probably you're the type that used to having everything done for you. Can you cook? Can you do the laundry? What about the dishes? If you don't do them yourself, it is advisable to start learning how to do them now, otherwise, you would have a very rough and tough time during your stay abroad.

5. Avoid overspending
Education abroad is expensive and sometimes your student loan might not be enough. The last thing you want, therefore, is an unnecessary expenditure. Take your time to draw up a budget and think about where you want to spend your money or where your money is going.
Avoid overspending, don't spend lavishly, avoid things that are not important, and only spend when it is important.

6. Learn the language
As an international student, if you're moving to a country where you don't speak the first language, then it might be a good idea to make an effort to learn the local language. It will help to interact with your classmates and make listening to lectures and seminars easier.
Additionally, an extra language will be impressive to future employers.

7. Keep in touch with your family
Communication with your relatives at home supports you, giving you comfort. Call your family and friends now and then, it is particularly important for newcomers until they make some new acquaintances.
Free wifi is usually available in academic environments while dormitories have dedicated lines. Give sometimes for contact with your family but don't focus on it, try to make the most of the new environment and opportunities provided to study abroad.

8. Join a hobby group or society
Student life is very eventful, you can never get bored. You can pursue various hobbies. There are student theatre as well as art, dancing, and music groups. Of Course, universities have sports facilities such as fitness rooms, stadiums, swimming pools, and a majority have their own football and volleyball teams.

9. Consider getting a part-time job
When studying abroad, you may find that a part-time job can really help pay a few extra bills or fund leisure activities and travel that would have otherwise been outside of your budget.
