IDENTIFY FAKE GENERATOR

Purchasing a generator is still one of Nigerians’ most significant purchases. You want to buy a generator that meets your needs, such as powering all of your air conditioners and freezers, and does so consistently throughout time, without the need to replace parts or perform maintenance. Unfortunately, the thrill of purchasing a new generator is typically swiftly replaced with disappointment. For example, a generator that can easily power two or more air conditioners could struggle to power only one or none after only six to eight weeks! It soon begins to require the weekly attention of the local “generator engineer,” and parts must be replaced. This is because the open market has a large number of fake generators.
If you buy your generator through a manufacturer’s representative, such as John Holt selling Honda generators, you may be confident you’re getting an original. Most Nigerians, however, buy from independent importers in the open market, where they may get it at cheaper price than the price, this items are also from Hondas with cheap Chinese-made engines to copy of high-quality Chinese generators.
When purchasing on the open market, it is recommended that you consult an expert to assist you in identifying the genuine gen set.

To avoid buying a fake Gen set, examine these four things:

The coil: Coils are found in all generators and can be made of copper, aluminum, or brass. Copper coils are used in high-quality generators. Before purchasing a generator, inspect the coil thoroughly. Inside the engine, the coil should be nicely rolled. The coil has been tampered with if it isn’t. Rub the coil with your hands. If your hands are discolored, this indicates that the coil has been treated to resemble copper. This could also indicate that the engine has been reconditioned; after three months, it will “knock.”
Coil of Copper Wire: The copper wire is a reddish-brown color, as you can see. Although some merchants may spray aluminum or brass wire to make it look like copper, you will be able to tell if it has been sprayed since it will stain your hands when you touch it.
Coil of Alluminium Wire: The aluminum wire is a gleaming silver color, as you can see above. This is not as long-lasting as a copper coil.
Coil of Brass Wire: Gold-colored brass wire is used. It is the least effective of the three. In reality, such a coil should never be included with a generator.
The Engine Block: This is a simple inspection that you may perform on your own. At first appearance, a fake engine block may be distinguished from an original. A phony engine block is gleaming and light in weight. If the engine is genuine, the sound it creates should be muffled, but if it is counterfeit, it will make a loud resonating noise.
Name engraved/crested on generator: On the tank, engine block, air filter, carburetor, muffler, cylinder head cover, alternator rear frame, and AVR of an original generator, the name shall be crested/engraved. This may not be the case with all generators, but be sure the name is crested (not painted) on at least three to five of them before you make payment.
Original Firman generator parts will have it name engraved on it.
Engine block, Valve cover, Guild of Silencer, Air purifier, Fuel Tank
Generator Sound: Don’t just walk into a generator store and buy one without asking the vendor to test it for you. The attractive packaging of a generator does not imply that it is original. Make sure the generator is unpacked and turned on so you can hear it. A good generator produces a consistent sound. Don’t buy if the generator’s sound is “harsh.”
If you are the internet type that like buying stuffs online, make sure you are buying from the right guys. you can identify this by visiting their website or online stores like Jumia and Konga.
