The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has slammed Nigerian Christians who are poor as sinners and cursed by God, claiming all Christian adherents should be rich, accusing some of falling into penury because they fail to pay tithes.

One of the church leaders, a professor and pastor of RCCG, Solomon Bello, was quoted in a statement to have said this on Wednesday while delivering the lead paper at the Business Summit of the Redeemers Men’s Fellowship of the LP71, Divine Connection Zone.

Mr Bello, the pastor in charge of Lagos province 71 (LP71), described prosperity as “a birthright of Christians while poverty is a curse.”

“Poverty is not for any true child of God. As long as men continue to sin against God, they will continue to struggle,” the Redeemed pastor claimed.

Mr Bello, who is also a lecturer at the University of Lagos, listed the major factors that brought about poverty as sin, laziness, curses, ingratitude, extravagance, and procrastination.

“Cursed and blessings are the results of the obedience or lack of it on the part of a man. The Bible informs us that poverty is a curse. It was the resultant effect of man’s separation from God in the Garden of Eden,” the RCCG cleric further asserted. “As long as men continue to sin against God, they will continue to struggle. It takes two to succeed, you and God.”

On gratitude and obedience, Mr Bello said that any Christian who knew how to obey and show appreciation to God was destined for great heights.

“An ungrateful man cannot go far in life. Gratitude will open the doors of breakthrough and success to you at any time,” he claimed. “Appreciation of God’s goodness leads to an appreciation of your blessings and worth before God and man.”

Mr Bello also mentioned that appreciating God would lead to success in life.

“It is the shortest cut to victory. If you want the heavens to be opened for you, if you want to be made whole, then you must be ready to appreciate Him. When you return to give glory to God,” the Redeemed pastor asserted. “He will return to make your life worth living. Divine upliftment comes in the place of gratitude. Every disobedience has a retribution attached to it. When you obey the commands of God, blessings follow after, but when a man disobeys, the blessings are withheld.”

The Redeemed Church leader, who warned against procrastination, added that “devourers” had also been assigned against people who do not pay tithes.

On the route to prosperity, the cleric listed 11 steps (wisdom, diligence, labour, mystery of giving, the way of thinking, anointing, obedience, natural gifts and endowments, blessing of right placement, praises, and breakthrough by the blood).

“The road to prosperity is a straight one if you can only understand it. God has already made every provision for comfort and upliftment. There are certain things you can do to unlock the heavens for yourself and your family,” he said.

Corroborating Mr Bello’s claims, Segun Adeleye, the coordinator of the Redeemers Men’s Fellowship, Divine Connection Zone, said, “Christians are crawling when they are supposed to be flying.”

The Redeemed Church leader said it was strange that Christians do not “know that they are poor as long as they can afford one fairly used car and struggle to put food on the table.”

Buttressing his claim that Christians should be rich, Mr Adeleye explained, “But Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Do we bother to ask what God’s riches are? According to Haggai 2:8 ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.”

He reasoned that “if the silver and gold belong to God, then the logic should be that we His children should not be poor, but very rich.”

He said Christians could not claim to be rich in Nigeria when the rich people in the country were from a different faith, while the rulers of the country and heads of all the most important institutions were from a different faith.

Not far from the truth.
Deuteronomy 28 blessings and curses comes to mind.
Book of Hebrew says whom the father love he chastised when they go astray.
More going astray, more chastisement.
Keep on going astray and chastisement will keep on coming.

Bible says everybody cannot be rich because everybody can never be obedient unto God in life.
Book of Isaiah 1:19 says, if thou are willing and obedient, thou shall eat the good of the land.
My people suffers for lack of knowledge says hosiah 4:6.
Wisdom is the principal thing says proverb.
Remain blessed!

The Pastor is not far from the truth. But I know many will quote him out of context.

The mindset of Prosperity being just having money is a very poor mindset. Money is just a branch of prosperity.

John the Beloved wrote in 3rd John 2
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Money without health equals Pains, trouble, frustration, etc
Money without a Genuie relationship with JESUS equals Fear, No Peace, Calamity, Depression,

The Prosperity of your soul , having a Genuie relationship with JESUS Christ and Understanding who you are and what you have in HIM is the Greatest Prosperity.

When your soul prospers in Christ, what you have as a Christian is All things.
What you have in you is beyond the physical.
You can Control Events.
You words can make people

Poverty and curses are synonyms.

A poor man is most definitely under a curse. You can't genuinely claim to be a child of God and still live in poverty.. God is a blesser and He is so kind and generous.

The reasons many Christians continue in poverty:

1. Ignorance

2. Sin

3. Lack of deliverance from curses

Indeed, they are cursed for paying attention to the doctrines and traditions of men(and their churches, lies which Jesus Christ warned push them far away from God's Truth, nullifying the Power of God's in their lives, rendering their worship of God vain/meaningless - Matthew 15 vs 1 -14 and Mark 7 vs 1 - 13 undecided

God cursed all False prophets and false teachers, however His curse also lies on those who gullible submit themselves to the doctrines and traditions of those cursed by Him. undecided

Tithing of the Covenant agreement made by God specifically for those of Jewish decent. Any non-Jew who lives by that law sins against God and indicates God a fool by it - Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20 undecided

You are mistaken! We are all of us born sons of men. Only those who through continuous submission and obedience of the teachings (and commandments) of Jesus Christ, God's Truth, are set free from slavery to sin, this by their knowing of the Truth, are transformed into Sons of God. undecided

Those of you who instead submit and obey the will of your pastors, allowing them to fleece and kill you using God's name, have nothing to do with God who warned you of the dangers of such to your very lives. undecided

I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all. For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in an evil net and birds are caught in a trap, so the sons of men are ensnared in a time of disaster, when it suddenly overtakes them. Ecclesiastes 9:11-12

My brother continue to rejoice because your heart is pure that's why it's easier for you to understand sacred secrets {Matthew 13:8, 23} but as for these wicked generation their hearts are crooked that's why they keep asking for a sign before they can believe in God! Matthew 16:4

Just imagine someone utter such nonsense when 80% of God's faithful servants are poor materially speaking, even Jesus never had anything apart from the clothes he wear to cover his body! Luke 9:58

So how come they are saying God's servants must be rich materially speaking? Matthew 6:24; Luke 18:23
Paul has forewarned us that during the endtime they will gather teachers for themselves who will be teaching them sweet lies that they want to hear! 2Timothy 4:3-4

So rejoice my belove brother and continue in your journey to everlasting life! smiley
