Nigerian Army To Question Methodist Prelate Over Soldiers' Involvement In His Abduction

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday denied that military personnel were aiding kidnappers in the South-East region, IGBERETV reports.

Shortly after regaining freedom from his abductors, The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Uche who was abducted on Sunday along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, had while narrating his near-death experience at the hands of kidnappers alleged that some soldiers from the North were working with the kidnappers in the South-East region.

In reaction to the Prelate's claim, the Nigerian Army stated that it will question the Methodist Prelate and the Methodist Church over the allegation.

Nigerian army wrote on Facebook;

"ALLEGED COMPLICITY BY SOLDIERS IN BISHOP'S KIDNAP UNSUBSTANTIATED

The Nigerian Army (NA) has been notified of the insinuation making the rounds on social media, alleging complicity of troops of the Nigerian Army in the kidnap incident of the Methodist Prelate in Abia state recently.

While the Nigerian Army expresses concern and sympathy for the victim of this heinous crime and shares in his pains, the insinuation that troops are complicit in the kidnap incident is not entirely premised on any findings of investigations and therefore cannot be swallowed hook line and sinker. This allegation therefore raises some pertinent questions which are still unanswered.

Given, the spate of insecurity in the region, the question would be, was the issue reported to the unit covering the area? Did the Methodist Church take the NA into confidence while negotiating the ransom with the kidnappers? No formal complaint has been received by the unit. More worrisome is the fact that it was alleged that the ransom was paid in less than 24 hours. Was the ransome paid to troops? These are questions that beg for answers.

Moreso, the NA unit, has not received any debrief from the Prelate or the Methodist Church.
It is therefore, important to state that troops are deployed at Forward Operating Base(FOB) Okigwe and in front of the Abia State University Uturu and no information was made available to them or to 14 Brigade or any other formation, except the information making the rounds in the social media.

It must be clarified that troops' deployment in the Nigerian Army is not done with considerations for ethnic affiliation, hence a deployment of troops of Fulani ethnic extraction who as alleged by the Prelate, carried out the dastardly act is not our practice or modus operandi in the NA.

Given our professional disposition and zero tolerance for any misconduct in the Nigerian Army , we will take this weighty allegation seriously and approach the Prelate and the Methodist church to unravel the basis for the allegation.

Nigeria army has no power to invite anyone for questioning.
If they succeded in beheading him like they did to the Anambra lawmaker and army couple in Imo,there would have been no one to tell the story. Gutter media, BMC lunatics and fulani slaves would be blaming IPOB.

who killed Dr Chike Akunyili?
who killed Ahmed Gulak?
who beheaded Anambra lawmaker?
Nigeria army and DSS must answer these questions.

the Methodist Bishop isn’t the first to say this neither is he the last. TY Danjuma, a whole retired army general has told Nigerians same revelation. So why should the Bishop be interrogated?

The question you should have asked remains how does 100 million naira changed hand from the payers to payees? When the so-called man of God tells you the military was involved, think twice.

Man, if you see a Nigerian military personnel dressed in camouflage and a Fulani guy dressed in camouflage, you can spot an impersonator...

That's why Military personnel would spot a "fake" man wearing a camouflage short/shirt on the road...

The Nigeria military have a thing or two to do with the current happenings in the country/East..

The bishop is not a kid nor a stranger in Nigeria not to know the difference......

Do you know that most soldiers lobby just to be posted to the East??

Look at this kind of stupid bureaucratic response.

Is the prelate a member of the Nigerian Army, to be giving you information and taking you into confidence. His responsibility is to save his own life first. Now he is telling you kidnapping is being aided by your offices and you are responding with insinuations as usual.
The Nigerian Army is a war instrument not a civil law enforcement organisation, so why are your troops deployed outside your base?

The information making it round the south east is that the group of kidnappers operating in the region are working from military bases to escape ESN. And their attrocitcities are being brought online by the likes of Oyiboupdate and cast as ESN. The prelate has just given this open secret flesh. May our lives be saved.

Any person can wear uniforms and commit crime as well as soldiers can also commit crime.
Let all bring this killing to end because it won't lead us anywhere

Shortly after regaining freedom from his abductors, The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Uche had while narrating his near-death experience at the hands of kidnappers alleged that some soldiers from the North were working with the kidnappers in the region.

now they will arm twist the priest to withdraw his statement.

We all in the east know its the fulanis that have been kidnapping, beheading, and killing numerous people in igbo land under the watch of the army.

The fulanis killed those igbo military couple, beheaded the state legislator, killed the hausa woman and her kids including 6 other igbo traders at the the market, attack police stations and make sure they kill only igbo officers.

We in the east knows where those attacking us are from but the media chose to label them ipob and esn despite the fact that the military and police have murdered almost half of the youths in southeast and tag them ipob and esn.

WE KNOW THE PRIEST IS SAYING THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.

The Nigerian army should clear its name first. This is not the first time unprofessional conduct are levelled against the army.

The priest who was kidnapped and released after paying 100 million has told us who kidnapped him and others.

Edited.
The military should stop behaving like the story is a new development.
Stop the pretends if you the government and security agencies are not part of the criminals.

What else do you want to hear?

The Prelate said he was kidnapped in a vicinity where there was an army checkpoint. They were shooting sporadically and the same army didn't show up. They were also speaking Fulani language.
For the information of the i.diot below me, there have been many kidnapping cases in that area and all the victims come out to say that the attackers are Fulani.

I repeat: what else do you want to hear?
Let them go and arrest him nah.

The Methodist Primate is an IGBO Man, they always exonerate IPOB from any wrong doing. That's why we Nigerians are not suprised with his outburst.

But our Gallant Soldiers are doing a great job in the EAST. They must not relent in their quest of shooting any IPOB on sight.
