~MY POV~

It has been a tight week for me I had not much time running around looking for an apartment. The caretaker number I took from Wunmi. I called him recently. Well, he told me there were no vacancies though he told me to check the neighbouring lodge I haven't gone to check it out due to the upcoming test that would be starting on Thursday.
My eyes became sore from the effect of midnight reading and my head was pounding heavily after taking one more reading session at the school reading hall.
It was a minute past six, I was getting ready to leave the hall and head for home when Oyin came blocking my way. I was surprised to see her after a while. She looks different from her previous looks. She had her hair cut short, tinted blonde. She donned a white crop top and a deep blue denim jacket complimenting her boyfriend jeans that hid her shape. I noticed she wasn't alone there was a guy and another girl behind her making side talks. She kept a straight face at me waiting for my response but I kept mute.

"Won't you say anything?" she frowned.

"What should I say? Did you greet me first?" I retorted.

"Tam you have changed oh, you couldn't hug or say me a hello. Is it like you didn't miss me?" She drew her face forward finding my eyes. Her words to my ears made me cringe. Ever since my last visit to her place I haven't seen her for a while and I was occupied taking care of my schedule.

"But you were in the wrong at first... Y-you look different now I can't imagine... Your hair is short, you even turned blonde! Why?"

She rolled her eyes randomly “I just needed a change at the moment and my old look was becoming boring.” she cleared her throat. “By the way, how have you been?"

"I have been busy for a while now, doing one or two activities, plus the upcoming test things that I have a bad feeling for." I rubbed my forehead.
"So, what have you been up to? It's been a while." I asked, forcing a smile on my pale face.

"I've always been around, you are the one not seeing me or should I say avoiding me?" She paused waiting for my response but she continued after I threw my eyes elsewhere. "I heard you are looking for a lodge, hmm?"

I shot my left brow, darting my eyes to meet hers. "Don't tell me Eugene told you?"

"Ehnn, who else? I saw him on my way to the engineering department and I couldn't resist stopping by and ask of you from him. Our conversation led from there to another and he used that opportunity to tell me you are parking out of his house.” She giggled.

I understood what had happened and I remembered how I didn't kill Eugene's curiosity when he asked what happened between me and Oyin. He slipped in my plans to her to get the information from her. Not only that he must have begged Oyin to accommodate me if I didn't get an apartment of my own. ‘Judas! You have betrayed me!’ I cried in my thoughts.

“Did he tell you anything?”
“Anything like what?”
I kept a long stare at her if she could understand what I meant by “anything.”
“Ohh, that's why I'm here.” She smiled again.

"I see..." I got up from the pew, picking up papers I littered on top of my books sprawled on the desk. “As you can see I'm on my way out of here."

"I know right? But I can escort you?”
"Leaves me no choice." I managed to breathe out.
“You don’t dare to say no,” She laughed as she poked my head playfully.

She excused me to pack up my books while she joined her friends in their discussion. I observed the trio having their time together laughing out loudly. I navigated my way through the long pew and walked towards them, she turned and held my bag.

"Let me give you a hand." She beckoned at me to let go of my bag for her to carry.

"No thanks I'm good, you got yours with you," I pointed at her leather-made cross bag.

"Stop jare. I just want to help my guy." She drew a contagious smile while she stretched her hand again.
"Oyin you don't have to have to do this I can..."

She quickly cut in, “I'm trying to be a caring friend here." She drew closer and whispered in my ears. "Also I want you to know that I'm trying to get over what we had and move on. as friends we see ourselves, right?"

I almost felt embarrassed as soon as she said she is only trying to keep the bond between us without our past acting as a hindrance. I hesitated for a while.
"Oyin we getting late we need to hurry up!" The girl behind Oyin said.
Oyin quickly snatched my bag and held my hand beckoning the rest of her friends to move with us.

We got outside of the school campus taking the usual route that led to our various houses I couldn't say for Oyin's friends I got no idea where they were from. This is my first time meeting these sets.

"Oyin do you know sometimes you can be an uncultured girl. you know?"
She bent her brow in confusion. "Ahn Ahn Tam! What did I do? What you'd mean I'm uncultured?"

I mockingly bent my lips to mimic what she said earlier. I pointed at her friends who were behind us. She turned back to look where my fingers are pointed at.

"What?" Confused Oyin asked.

"Don't tell me you don't know who's behind us?"

"Oh, my dear! Forgive my manners. I thought you were showing me something different I don't know you were referring to my friends." She slapped her head slightly. "I'm really out of courtesy today." She stood and turned back to call their attention. "Guys, I'm sorry I never introduced you to my best friend." She gave me a wink.

"I thought you don't want to introduce us to your cute friend. Wicked girl!" Said the girl standing close to the other guy smirking at Oyin.

"Abeg fly e! See your mouth like cute. Your eyes dhan dey enter abi? You better comot your eyes oh he's mine." Oyin jokingly replied.

I felt embarrassment creeping through my face.

"Y'all meet Tammy my bestie and Tammy... Meet Sharon and Nosa, they are my course mate and also my new neighbours." She moved to my side for me to get acquainted with them.
" Hey there nice to meet you." I stretched my hand for a handshake.
The computer engineering department is so large that I couldn’t keep tabs on the number o students we are in the class.

Nosa, the fair, average, skinny guy with facial hair all over his face received my hands warmly. He looked friendly and funny, I judged him through his appearance.

“Not a problem Bruh, don't mind Oyin she was so caught up not minding she has people that were waiting for her ." He taunted.
Sharon, the light-skinned, short petite beauty broadened a smile as she received my hands for a shake. “ nice to meet you too.” she said calmly, shooting her eyes at me.
Oyin cleared her throat and called us to continue our walk back home. I sensed jealousy in her but it wasn't obvious.

We were in the middle of our journey home when I told Oyin my legs were tired and I might stop a bike to continue my journey home. She stared at me and frowned, I knew she would always have something to tell me at the end of time like this and would want me to listen. I wanted her to remind me.
“You forgot I told you we had something to talk about?”
“I know, so say it.”
“Tam, are we quarrelling?”
“No, why?” I questioned.
“The way you responded... I don't like it.”
“Sorry if I sounded rude, I feel tired.”
She took a deep breath.
“We can talk about it when u are less busy then.
“ No. I don't think I'll be seeing you this week I might be busy. This is your best chance to talk or forget it.”

She couldn't continue dragging me with me. She had no choice but to walk me away from her friends and stood close to a kiosk along the road.
"So tell me what's it?" I pressed down to listen to her.
"Is concerning you looking for an apartment... have you seen any yet?"
I paused for a while before giving her my response. "I am yet to find one?"
"You are yet to?”
“That means you haven't seen any apartment?”
I nodded in agreement.
“I already told you your brother explained everything to me and he wanted me to help you out in case you haven't seen any apartment,” she waited for my response but I didn't utter any words. I stared at her friends who were a bit distant from us as she continued.

“You can squat with me. I'll let you use the other room since it's a self-contained apartment. You don't have to share the rent with me."
"Oyin, you didn't ask for your help. I can handle things myself."
"Tam, why are you like this, can't you just gimme a chance? I just want us to rejuvenate our friendship."
“We are still friends but I'm not sure of what you mean by rejuvenating our friendship.”
“Cmon, don't think of me that way. That's the past. I've changed for real. Is just that I miss the days we were close friends... if you could give me a chance to prove it.”

I searched her eyes thoroughly but couldn't see trust written in them. I felt staying with her would stir up the old life we had together and I'm still running away from it.

"See, you don't have to do all that to prove you are changed. Your offer is nice but I cant accept it.
“What about your brother?”
“That's my business. I have time to look around before the month comes to an end.
I brought out my phone it was already a few minutes past seven. “Can I have my bag now?" I stretched my hands to receive my bag from Oyin.
She nodded slowly as she let go of my bag and waited for me to stop a bike.
"Thank you very much. Tomorrow I'll give you a call when I'm less busy.”
"Alright, goodnight, " she mumbled quietly.

I hollered at her friends before zooming off with the bike man.

I believe that Tammy is in a fix and he doesn't know it yet. Things can escalate fast at this point, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Oyin will definitely not go without a fight, the funniest thing is that she knows that she's obviously not in love with Tammy. Things like this can actually happen in real life situations too. My opinion might be wrong sha, you're the one in charge of the driving seat. More updates pls.
