What Villarreal did is what we call an upset, it happens once in a while in football, we can cite numerous examples.
Sevilla is an average club but always make top 4 in La liga but rarely make it out of the group stage no matter how easy the group is, that says a lot about la liga.

I believed that you have traveled outside of Africa but if you have not, the day you would do, you will understand that DSTV is only in Africa and their major football league is EPL.

Forget past 5 years. Let’s look at the past 15 years. out of the top 5 leagues in Europe (England, France, Spain, Germany and Italy) which one has had the most diversity in terms of winners over the last 15 years?

In England at the start of every given season Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Man United and either Arsenal or Tottenham can be considered title contenders.

In Spain it’s just Madrid, Barca and maybe Atletico.

In France it’s ONLY PSG

In Germany it’s ONLY Bayern

Italy is the only one remotely close to England because there you can still say Inter, AC Milan, Juventus and maybe Napoli have a chance.

I'm also telling you that EPL also get broadcast in other continents Like optus in Australia, Beinsports in the middle-east, NBC sports in USA, tencent sports in China, star sports in India etc
So EPL is very popular worldwide.
There are even more EPL fans( Registered ones) in Asia compared to Africa, as a couple of clubs like Leicester and Everton are owned by Asians.

Also the second part, Chelsea also subdued 3 of the top 4 La liga teams en route to winning it in 2021 with more goals margin than what Madrid did.
