Hi there, my camry 05 vibrates when its about to enter a certain gear or when I’m cruising at low revs. The vibration is quite different from typical engine or gear mounts vibration. The car was scanned and it showed one of the gear solenoids defective, I change it but problem still persists. The vibration used to happen mostly when going uphill but now it happens even downhill including when braking.

Anyone had/have similar issues?

Again, did you buy the car Nigeria used? Are you sure the gear has not been changed before? Probably to 10pin?

The 13pin gear box is very delicate and hardly tolerate abuse.

Is there any occurrence that caused the vibration? I.e radiator change, gear oil change or top up, moving in flooding areas, engine change, cv joint change etc

- I did the first gear oil change in January this year.

- The gear has never been changed and it came toks with 13pin gear box.

- Yes I had CV joint replaced on the passenger’s side but it already had this issue even before then.

Did you wash it?

What oil did you use for this gear servicing and where did you buy the oil?

Where did you do this gear service? In a sandy workshop on in a clean environment devoid of sand and loose particles?

No the gear filter was only washed, not changed.

I used the recommended t4 oil inscribed on the oil stick, my kazeem got it for me.


In my house, on plastered floor; fairly clean environment.

The tiv comes in 4 liters and you only fill with what you remove. When I did mine I used only 4 liters

Is the type 4 same as attached? Did you see it when the mechanic replaced it?

My best bet is that they bought bad sensor,

The issue is that the gear is very sensitive and only few mechanic can repair it.

It may be a small issue as stated but a specialist needs to handle it to avoid more damage

Was the car engine left to cool preferably overnight before servicing the gear? It is important when handling 13pin. From personal experience.

Servicing when hot packed up the gear. A more experienced technician had to leave it over night before servicing and no issues. Infact, he said you don't even top the gear oil when it is hot that you do that first thing in the morning before zooming off.

What you did was partial servicing. You only drained the oil. You did not change/wash your filter. If you have to open the gearbox for any reason, let it cool down before doing it to avoid stories that touch.
