The Hebrews have their traditional way that most of them are used to when it comes to worship and Jesus lived in accordance with that tradition.
But before the event at pentecostal Jesus told his listeners that the Jewish tradition will soon end and a new system will ensue {John 4:21-24} despite three years that Jesus spent with his Apostles they still found it really difficult to meet up with the change in tradition so Jesus chose Paul who is both vast in the tradition of the Jews as well as nationalized as a Roman.

Jesus specifically chose Paul to translate Christianity for the gentiles who may find it really difficult to switch over from Judaism to Christianity. So if you're reading what Jesus told his Jewish disciples before pentecost and comparing to how Paul translated it to gentiles you will have serious issues without the help of true Christians who fully understood both sides and the transition!

So after preaching to someone the individual must show publicly that he wants to live the rest of his life in harmony with Jesus' teachings. That's what brought about baptism and import of the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is that the new concert must know that the Almighty God is the Father who sent Jesus Christ as a messenger though Jesus is the son of God who has come to replace Adam in teaching mankind how to please God, then it's God's Holy Spirit that can help the new convert live in harmony with God's will not his own power because there are lots of distractions out there.

The inhabitants of Antioch noticed a group of people practicing this that's why they called them "CHRISTIANS" not that someone just wake up and start attending a religious program and that makes him/her a Christian, NO!
