2023: Wike has invested, harvested so much, can’t dump party – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed claims that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is planning to dump the party.

PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said Wike is an important and loyal member of the party.

Ologunagba said the governor had invested so much in PDP to think of dumping the party.

Wike has been aggrieved since the PDP’s presidential primary that produced Atiku Abubakar as its flagbearer.

The governor is believed to be aggrieved that Atiku ignored him and picked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.

He has been associating with chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This led to the belief that Wike may dump PDP or work against the party in 2023.

However, Ologunagba, in a statement said: “Governor Wike is an important member of this party. He is a man who has invested so much in this party. He has also harvested so much from the party; the party has also promoted him.

“He has said in so many fora that he is a committed party man and has remained loyal to the party since inception.

“Before the presidential primaries which he contested, he told the whole world that he was ready to respect the outcome of the elections. I have no evidence that he has changed his mind.”

Very callous from PDP here.
You are having a house that is burning, what causes the fire is not your aim now but how to put off the Fire to stop it from spreading and consuming other valuables.

PDP should think

He should dump if he so deem it fit.
We have experienced very high ranking members leaving PDP, even Obasanjo tore his membership card. In 2015 they said PDP was dead yet the party remains the best bet for reasonable Nigerians.

Please let's support his excellency Mr Peter obi for the president of federal Republic of Nigeria, we are tired of those thief's now,

Without a tribalism and nepotism any sane Nigerian know it's only someone like Peter obi that can now rescue Nigeria from total collapsing, but seriously some ethnic bigot people will just still prefer to hav their own man at the affairs of the country either he is capable or not than to go for what could have been the best solution to all nigerian's current problems, #ObiDatti2023 is certain

This whole episode of Atiku rejecting wike pain Wike very well. Wike wanted to show Amaechi that he is progressing politically after Governorship by becoming a VP candidate of PDP, but alas it's not meant to be. He also spent so much. Sometimes we don't get what we always yearned for.

Give him VP naa. Why Una dash Atiku the ticket cos he can bribe better? You all know, with all political parties that the presidency is southerner's turn.
But the oriburuku that's worrying PDP ll not allow them to outshine APC for once. Hence, they fielded a northerner.
The 2nd oloriburuku APC too come do Muslim-Muslim ticket in order to win at all cost.
Only Labour Party obeyed federal character.
But theiir are many rude Obidients like David Hundeyin tarnishing Peter Obi's image with his rude utterances.
In all, I don't even know who to vote next year.
I m as confused as a virgin with many suitors.

So do Atiku

A founding PDP member who made Obasanjo president in 1999 just as Tinubu made Buhari president in 2015?
Is that the person you are placing on the same pedestal as Wike

G1STMORE:
Responding, Soyinka said he had no cause to doubt Fayose, given his knowledge of how Obasanjo did the “unthinkable” when his aspiration for a second term in office was similarly threatened in 2003.

Said he: “Before the PDP primaries in January 2003, Obasanjo got everyone he knew could reach me on the surface on the earth including Yemi Ogunbiyi and my son, to get me to help him intercede when it was clear that (Abubakar) Atiku was in a position to take his job. He knew Atiku had a lot of regard for me and calls me ‘Uncle’.”

In the now famous BBC interview few days to PDP’s 2003 primaries, Atiku had declared that he was under tremendous pressure from his supporters to contest the ticket against Obasanjo but was yet to make up his mind in what triggered panic in Obasanjo’s camp.

“The pressure was intense,” the literary giant recounted. “Of course, I could not have knelt before Atiku not to embark on a course of action that would lead to his boss’ disgrace. But I can confirm to you that Obasanjo as President knelt down before Atiku so that he would not lose his job.

“But I warned Atiku that for making Obasanjo to kneel down for you, be sure you would have to pay heavily for that. I guess my warning came to pass if you remember Atiku’s dramatic change of fortune once Obasanjo was sworn in for a second term of office.”

nairavsdollars:
Atiku is a man I know very well and I have great respect for. I have worked with him before in the company of other notable Nigerians like Chief James Ibori, late DSP Alamieyeseigha and others. We tried to work for him in 2003 to realise his presidential ambition but he missed it at that point.

How did he miss the opportunity?

Atiku was a protégé of the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. He has a political machinery that cuts across the country. When Yar’Adua was in prison during the Abacha era, he confided in some of his lieutenants that in case he dies in prison, they should ensure they draft in Olusegun Obasanjo in order to compensate the South West for what happened to the late MKO Abiola. Yar’Adua’s key man then was Atiku so Obasanjo was forced to work with him. When Obasanjo was contesting as president, he had no money. Atiku provided all the funds. I know all this because I was part and parcel of the whole thing. Having agreed on Obasanjo, they needed people to execute the project. It was Atiku that called Chief Anthony Anenih to lead the campaign of Obasanjo. I was the first person Chief Anenih took from Benin in 1998. We usually meet in one very popular hotel in Abuja. That was where the whole plans started before we went to Jos for the convention. Atiku had already won election as governor of Adamawa state because that was his ambition then. But Obasanjo insisted that he wanted him as his running mate so he contested as running mate to Obasanjo despite his position as the governor-elect of Adamawa state. According to sources available to us that time, Obasanjo said he will do a single term but after that, he decided to go for second term. I was physically present at Rivers state Governor’s Lodge when the heat became too much and Obasanjo in the presence of all of us knelt down in front of Atiku begging him to allow him do a second term. I think that was how Atiku missed the opportunity by agreeing to Obasanjo’s plea. His thought was that at least, if Obasanjo completes his second term, he will hand over to him but you all know the story of Third Term Agenda and that was how they fell apart. Atiku had the best opportunity to become president in 2003 and lost it. He had the support of PDP governors then.
