While addressing the press after the acquittal of Jonah Jang of corruption charges by the EFCC, Mike Ozekohme (SAN) said and I quote "Jonah Jang is as free as a bird on the sky". I had to double check using Google search to clear my doubts and I am beginning to wonder why would a lawyer of such repute, a senior advocate of Nigeria make such grammatical blunder

This is pure idleness. If not, no time to check people's grammars.

There is a difference between competence and performance.(langue and parole) Even when we are competent in the use of English we can still make mistakes when speaking it. We are all second language usesr of English who can make mistakes at any time!

Only a student of Ferdinand de Saussure understands what you wrote here. Unfortunately, such a beautiful field in humanities is gradually getting eroded. Thumbs up bro.

Honestly you cannot imagine how happy I am that there is a Nairalander who understands the linqustic terminology I used in my comment. I am fully convinced that you are an English specialist with the name of the Swiz modern lingust you mentioned. I appreciate you.

In addition to my previous comment I appeal to the Nairaland Moderators to create a plartform called LANGUAGES where issues relating to languages will be discussed especially when we have linguists on Nairaland. Thank you.

That would really go a long way in addressing the problems.

The grammatical error you are correcting is one of the reasons why you remain here!, Mike got paid for his job and ready to smile to the bank. Who did your grammar help? The big question is when will you convert all your grammar to money?
