......1 2 1
.....1 3 3 1
....1 4 6 4 1
..1 5 10 10 5 1
.1 6 15 20 15 6 1
Above is the Pascal's triangle.
So we are going to use the row 1 4 6 4 1 as our coefficient for the expansion. Since it's power four in (2a+3b)⁴
Hence: (2a +3b)⁴ = 1*(2a)⁴ + 4*(2a)³(3b) + 6*(2a)²(3b)² + 4*(2a)(3b)³ + 1*(3b)⁴
=16a⁴ + 96a³b + 216a²b² + 216ab³ + 81b⁴

The coefficients of (A + B)**5 are 1 5 10 10 5 1
The coefficients of (A+ B)**6 are 1 6 15 20 15 6 1

No the power of the expression you are expanding should be similar to the number after 1 in the row of the Pascal's triangle

Which one be Pascal triangle again.
Re: 2k For Anyone Who Can Solve This For Me....mathematicians Food Don Land by qwertyboss(m): 6:14pm On Sep 03, 2022
MyVILLAGEpeople:

Which one be Pascal triangle again.
The coefficients of the terms of an algebraic expression:
Like X has 1 as it's coefficient
X+Y has 1 and 1 as coefficients of it terms
(X+y)²= x²+2xy+y² has 1, 2 and 1 as coefficients of it terms
(X+y)³=x³+3x²y+3xy²+y³ has 1, 3, 3 and 1as it's coefficient.

So Blaise Pascal a renown scientists discover tha the coefficients forms a triangle starting from a single to a triple term...
.......1 single term expression
......1 1 double term expression
.....1 2 1 triple term expression

So Pascal's observed that the coefficients for quadruple term can be obtained by adding the first two terms of the previous coefficients in sequence after putting down 1 as the first and last coefficients of the current expression.
Like 1 (1+2) (2+1) 1 which gives 1 3 3 1
Which corresponds to the coefficients of the expansion of (X+y)³
The next row of coefficients can also be obtained using 1 3 3 1
As 1 (1+3) (3+3) (3+1) 1 which gives 1 4 6 4 1
An expansion for (X+y)⁴
That's how he construct the traingle which can be applied to expansion of higher polynomials with ease like (X+y)¹² and so on before the discovery of permutation and combination which further makes the process very easier by eliminating the need for the triangle

The post is properly written as (2a + 3b)⁴...
I believe many people skipped it because they didn't comprehend (2a + 3b)*4 because one * means multiplication, is double ** that means raised to the power of...
After all this is just a silly maths compare to advance power series like the Tailor's, Fourier's or McLaren's series cool

u are either a mathematics student or an engineering student. As a computer science student who like mathematics, I don't think we did anything like tailor and some of the stuff u mentioned and if we did, I must have forgotten.

You reminded me of my days when I was seriously tackling engineering mathematics. I was 17 then. I did up to Laplace transform. I loved Taylor series and McLaren series. I didn't have time to learn Fourier series. I could remember reduction formula in integration calculus,Surface of a revolution,Partial derivatives, 2nd order differential equation. The irony of all these is that I ended up with excel grin I'm a chartered accountant now. I was not originally from the science field. I loved maths so much like you. You are one of the geniuses that Nigeria never deserves. You need to japa. smiley
