The old man is bitter because Tinubu won APC candidacy against all his poor calculations and expectations to turn himself to thin god.
No one cares about a frustrated old man that cant even offer himself to be voted for only to be envious of the real omoluabis like most revered Uncle Bola ige, Asiwaju Tinubu ,,,,

Ol' boy, pls. I take God beg you. Do not mention "yorubas Omoluabis" and asiwagu (awon werey) Tinubu, in the same sentence. It just doesn't
compute, its incongruous. They are both mutuallyexclusive.

POLITICS2023: Afenifere reacts as Tinubu informs Buhari of presidential ambition

Published on January 12, 2022

By

Seun Opejobi

The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has expressed happiness over the declaration of interest by Bola Tinubu to run for the presidency come 2023.

It described Tinubu’s declaration as a good development.

In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Bayo Aina, he said the Southwest had been placed in a position to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Tinubu had informed Buhari of his intention to run for the presidency in 2023.

He disclosed this after a meeting with the President at the State House, Abuja, on Monday.

However, Aina said Afenifere would work with traditional, religious leaders, and other major stakeholders to ensure that the Southwest remains unmatched in 2023.

“We are happy that the South West zone wholly embraced the APC, since 2015 and this has enabled the zone to participate as an equal stakeholder with other zones in the affairs of the Nation. This has now placed the zone in a pivotal position to produce the successor to President Buhari.

“This development has vindicated our position when we asked the south west to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 and 2019 elections.

“Going forward, we have no doubt that many persons across the six geopolitical zones may also indicate an interest in contesting for the highest office in the land. We must all be ready to face this reality.

“We appeal to the various contestants to run the race with mutual respect, dignity, sportsmanship and genuine “Omoluabi” ethos such that Nigeria in general and the Southwest particularly will even be more united as we approach the 2023 election. We must avoid a fratricidal engagement by all means,” he said.

This is the problem when as an elder you placed yourself above all your subject without consciousness of their views or feelings hereby allowing only your emotions to control you. This Baba Don missed road. Obi will be 2nd Runner up in the Sw come February.
Elder means wisdom. not emotion.
Your people can be emotions not wisdom.
Pray for the wisdom of Solomon.

A 2nd runner up in the SW, then the winner in the whole of Nigeria.

God has decided to remember this country otherwise Peter obi with a very good track record wouldn't have come out for this contest .
Thanks pa Ayo Adebanjo for saying the truth. That truth will continue to elongate you.

Are Afenifere reliable before. What's their significance in the scheme of politics. How many politicians have payed obeisance to them. Though we don't want Tinubu but these old people should go and sit down. Nigeria will decide the way to go.

When they were fighting for the death of Abiola,u hailed them( don't know if u were born then) When they struggled to free Yoruba /Oduduwa republic freedom fighter. U hailed them too but now they speak the truth, they are irrelevant. Now I know why God created Hell fire. It's for people like u

Brotherly, if Okowa had Igbo interest at heart he would have supported Obi.
Worst scenario, he would have contested for the ticket himself. That would have even changed the dynamics.

But going behind the scenes to work for a Fulani because of VP slot is a no-no for me. Mind you, I'm from Asaba. His decision did not tell well of the Western Igbos and it even added fuel to the fire between the SE and SS Igbos.
If there was no Obi, of course, Okowa would get maximum support of the Igbos. He has never denied them and he handled IPOB as brothers.
On a very good day, Obi Presidency will benefit us more than Okowa V Presidency. It's just that one is not sure about Obi's chances.
Thanks.

I like the way you dropped your opinion; very coherent and simple.

“The South-West, as I have pointed out, has produced a president and
currently sits as VP, the South-South has spent a total of six years in the
Presidency, but the Igbo people of the South-East have never tasted
presidency in Nigeria, and now that the power is due back in the South,
equity demands that it be ceded to the Igbo."

A child cannot see what an old man sees when sitting, not even when he climbs a tree. The man has in age and wisdom said the truth as he saw it. But unfortunately for many, they cannot see it, and some who saw it refuse to say it.

That is how majority of yoruba are, check the history, gani fawehinmi, yinka odumakin, falana, awojobi, aka bashorun, etc,it is Tinubu that is trying to polute some because of his greed, and unbridled ambition, the reason you see that 90% of his supporters are people without character
I agree, tinubu is a plague on yoruba idealists. From gani to fela to soyinka these men spoke the truth even if it offends their brother. That's what patriotism is all about. Remember how akintola lost election in SW but was declaring himself Winner on national TV, soyinka went to NTA Ibadan put a gun to the head of the broadcaster and told him to announce the correct results. Balls of steel.

I dont understand you. Is the emeny those who are so greedy with power such that they bin equity or those who speaks the truth regardless of what they are emerged from? If you care so much about Yoruba tribe, you should rather agitate for Odùduwà Republic. But if you care about Nigeria, you should advocate for Obi/Datti. It's a common sense, you don't have to be greedy and insensitive.

OYO.
We are still in a democracy. Everyone will contest and a winner will emerge. No one will leave the race for another because of "equity".

Even without considering equity, only a voter ravaged by ethno-religious bigotry can sideline Peter Obi but vote for either Bola Tinubu or Abubakar Atiku.
By all indices to weigh a presidential candidate in any country of the world, Peter Obi, by far, outweighs either Bola Tinubu or Abubakar Atiku.
