This will fail woefully

They are still importing long trains for city transport.

What they need is short 3 to 4 car trains that will be moving every hour thereby more efficient.

At the end this trains will be moving morning afternoon and night.

We can do better than this pessimism and be optimistic, this is a commendable effort.

Anambra that isn't a cashout can make claim about what infrastructure?

Go and check records of Anambra uptill now. They beat Lagos in education, just to remind you, in two different categories, Anambra state schools won best world tech exhibitions, life expectancy, health care. Infact, check their loan profile too, then, come back and ask another question

By the way, I live and work in Lagos

In actuality, this project might not make much sense to Lagosians the way it is being hyped, when operational. Like the other time, they were touting the Lagos Ibadan rail project as the missing link that will enable Ibadan residents to work in Lagos and commute back daily, till they fixed the price way above 2000 naira. Which means at 3000, for 5 days, 4 weeks a month, you've racked up 60k on transport alone. One hasn't factored the provocative cost of living under Buhari nowadays.
Now with Tinubu's campaign at the corner and China expecting their payback, the cost of commute will still not be favourable to the masses who really needs it. They will still resort to their cheaper buses, thus not less traffic

The number of Missing Persons in Nigeria keeps increasing by the day. It’s a sad reality.
Please use the Missing Persons Platform to list this information.

The Platform allows you to share information on missing and unidentified persons. It also helps you create a poster you can share on Social Media.

500,000 daily Haba, not even 50,000. How many passengers per trip and how many trips per day would amount to 500,000 passengers per day.

They just fabricate figures anyhow.

Why does Anambra state not have such train service?

Projects are not made as a means to steal money like it is done in Lagos, projects are designed with the ROI and people priorities in mind rail is not necessary in Anambra state unless it is an interstate rail. The Lagos light rail is another loss making venture loading. The idea though laudable was not entirely considered factoring the average Lagosian it was just a means to steal money. In Hongkong stock exchange the amount quoted was $182million, but it was announced in Lagos that it was $1.5billion as the cost for the project. And people are not looking that a project which the expected commisioning was 2013 during Fashola's time has not been completed till now, meaning that the project for one is already incurring debt servicing costs and also exchange rate fluctuations because of the slump in Naira value since 2016 till date. Lagos APC i know of that likes propaganda and lies would obviously attempt fo subsidize the service to the detriment of the state finances, so that people don't know the true picture of things.
That is why i feel pity for most of the urchins that support this government because in their hearts they know the truth it is just for daily bread and a chance to get govt patronage as pay back when they get into Aso Rock.
The biggest eye opener is FG's Lagos to Ibadan Train service that is recording massive losses that cannot even offset diesel costs let alone offset the loans for which the project was paid for.

Try and have sense Anambra doesn't need rail lines the state has a small land mass what the state needs is efficient road network and an interstate rail. Projects are not created as a means to steal money as it is done in Lagos.

The reason Anambra state doesn't have a railway is because they don't want one to enrich someone?

bullet trains for metro and intra city transport?

The sheer amount of ignorance bedevilling Nigerian youths is out of this world. Rather than ask questions, they curse, hyperventilate, spew bigotry foaming in the moth while chiming in on issues they know nothing about. Yet they swear they know what they are doing when it’s obvious they are victims of “group think” due to crass ignorance. Now imagine the problem society finds itself with these dudes having to vote as well. Totally ignorant, warped world view. We are talking about intracity transport, he is talking of bullet trains. The country can only be great if more state governors remotely even perform at this level, not leaving everything to the Fed Govt. Failure of other states in pulling their weight is the prime reason for the massive rural-to-urban migration we are seeing stretching the infrastructure of states like Lagos, Kano, Rivers, etc. The leadership keeps trying to solve the problem, yet daft folks want to criticise without thinking, sounding stupid in the process. Always having a reason to complain.

Yet you celebrated the overpriced, bogus, and lousy airport that was built with not strategic thinking to the critical mass of people in the state. How do you guys find a way to complain about a mega city having a tram line like this for any reason? Everything is not competition. The 1M+ people to be transported daily is enough reason this is a strong proposition, giving the amount of time people spend in traffic. Find other threads to complain, this is not the thread for Gods sake!

Oga stop trying to spread disinformation the amount quoted as the cost of the airport was mischief makers spreading lies. The airport and the airport city was what the initial amount was earmarked for and it is fitting to know that since the Chinese that wanted to fund the airport city didn't provide the funding, the state decided to fund the project solo and it was only the airport that was built. Please stop deceiving people, abeg. The airport was built with strategic thinking abeg try and have sense and stop spreading lies here.

TTC in talks to sell old trains to Lagos. Are they safe enough?
AUGUST 10, 2011

Fashola visited Toronto earlier this year to inspect the TTC trains.

The Lagos deal would be the first of its kind for the TTC. Decommissioned cars are usually sold for scrap metal and can fetch up to $1,500 dollar each. While Ross declined to discuss specific figures, he says the sticker price for Lagos is "significantly more" than scrap prices, putting the potential profits to the TTC in the millions of dollars.

It is not unusual for technology from western nations to end up in poorer countries. Marketplaces in Africa and Asia are flooded with North American clothes, computers, and even cars, but the purchase of larger technology like trains is rarer.

The cars will have to be significantly refurbished to fit existing infrastructure in Lagos, and some Nigerian media reports have lamented that the government appears to have settled on "tokundo," or used, trains instead of brand new vehicles.

Although half the cars are more than 30 years old, Ross is adamant they are perfectly safe and are only being decommissioned for capacity reasons. But he also admitted the TTC is not required to make sure the cars meet any safety standards before selling them.

"Once sold, it's up to the new operator to ensure they are in good working order," he said. "They do need to be maintained much more frequently than the new trains, simply because of their age. At some point they will run out their useful life."

Murtaza Haider, director of the Institute of Housing and Mobility at Ryerson University, said the age of the cars is definitely a cause for concern.

"We should be ensuring that there is some service life left in these vehicles and we're not going to be playing havoc with the lives of those who would ride these vehicles," Haider said. "There's metal fatigue, and that metal fatigue could result in dangerous conditions. I would be paying a close watch on this for the next ten years to see how many accidents do happen in Lagos."

He also warned that while rail systems are glamorous as far as transit infrastructure goes, they are not always as effective at reducing congestion as other options. Nevertheless, new rail systems are frequently preferred because governments can take advantage of kickbacks from large contracts.

According to media reports, the cost estimates for the Lagos rail project have varied wildly from $1.2 billion to $30 billion. In 2010, a Nigerian government watchdog accused Fashola's government of widespread corruption.

"More often than not, politicians favour rail transit because it is more expensive," Haider said. "It's almost useless in some cases, and less productive in most cases, than a bus system. But you can't buy busses for $30 billion. You can inflate prices and make a lot of money buying a rail system."
