UNILAG tops Nigerian varsities, ranks 401-500th in world

The University of Lagos is ranked first among Nigerian universities and 401-500th out of over 1,799 institutions across the world, the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings released on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 reveals.

UNILAG is sharing the first spot with the University of Ibadan, which is also ranked 401-500th in the world.

According to a data published on the Times Higher Education website, the rankings was conducted based on 13 calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

In 2020, UNILAG ranked 801-1000 in the world, 601-800 in 2021, and 501-600 in 2022 rankings.

The latest rankings revealed a steady rise in the institution’s growth from 2020 till date.

A statement published on the university’s website says, “The University of Lagos has indeed come a long way from the rankings of previous years, steadily rising from 2020 till date. UNILAG took a leap from the range of 801–1000 in 2020 to a higher range of 601–800 in 2021, 501–600 in 2022 and now, the 401–500 range in 2023. The University is however not relenting in hard work and dedication as the aim is to be ranked among the top 10 universities across the globe.

“This year, the University (UNILAG) is sharing the 1st spot in Nigeria with the University of Ibadan while Covenant University comes next in the 601–800 range. Outside Nigeria, UNILAG is sharing the 401–500 range with University of Alaska, Fairbanks, US; Aston University, UK; University of Bayreuth, Germany; Brunel University, London, UK; Colorado State University, Fort Collins, US, among others.”

Other universities captured in the rankings in Nigeria are Bayero University, Kano, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure both of which share the 1001-1200th position in the 2023 World University Rankings.

You can't just think anything without vomiting Tinubu from your mouth. You left ranking of university in your state of origin because it has no Academic traces in the world map, but only to attack Tinubu for your misfortune. Which of the universities in your zone makes the list? Why must all the best ranking federal, state and private universities come only from South west only since centuries ago?

Hatred in your heart towards Tinubu never allow you to ask question about position of your own state universities. Why not allow Tinubu to become president first so you can reduce your wailing to exactly 8years of his reign instead of beginning from now or you no dey tire?

If you want the best , in learning and character you tick all the boxes; you are extremely hardworking, patriotic, morally upright, brilliant and highly talented, just choose UNILAG, quit idleness on social media, study very hard to earn admission placement, come to Lagos and study, finish with great excellent grades and you are made for life!

Move your investments to Lagos!

The university of first choice and the nation's pride.

Arguably, it's the best tertiary education brand in West Africa.

I think it is Ahamadu Bello Zaria that is the pride of the North. I have seen Bayaro graduate that can't speak broken English (don't understand even broken English).

We should have lesser and verified bodies making these rankings.

Each of these numerous bodies uses different performance indicators and leave everyone confused at the end of the day.
